Sweet Sunday Sketch 79

Hi there, I hope your Sunday was a happy one.  We did a little grocery shopping and then hung out the rest of the day.  I managed to steal away a little time for some stamping so I thought I would play along with the Sweet Sunday Sketch that Karen Giron puts up each week on her blog The Sweetest Thing. Karen gave us this sketch to use this week:
I haven't had much stamping time lately, so this sketch was the perfect inspiration for me.  I took a wee bit of creative liberty and changed the oval shape to a circle.  I stamped the Wordsworth sentiment in Rich Cocoa Memento ink on a cream panel and cut it with the standard circle Nestabilities die and then layered it onto a scalloped circle.  I layered the sentiment panel on top of some crochet ribbon that was layered onto some pretty SEI floral cardstock.  I finished off the card with Prima  flowers,  a punched bird (MS) and some Mango pearls from Kaisercraft.  My favorite thing about this card is that it was created 100% from scraps from a recent class that I taught.

CSS Alumni Blog Hop

Hi there!  Tonight I am sharing a card that I created for for a blog hop being hosted by members of StampTV Center Stage Alumni. A group of us have decided to get together a couple of times a month and host a themed hop in order to share our love for Gina K. stamps.  For this hop we were given this photo as inspiration.  If you've arrived from my pal Lori McAree's blog then you're at the right place! To start at the beginning, please go to StampTV and hop from there.

As soon as I saw this picture I knew I would be using Melanie's adorable Candles on Your Cake set.  I was also inspired by the wonderful bright colors.in the photo and knew that the striped paper from the October Afternoon Farm Fresh pad would be perfect to create little presents with. I punched 1" squares from the paper and adhered them to some white Inchie squares. I tied 3 of them up like little gifts with some teeny tiny ribbon from my stash.  I stamped the bottom of the cupcake with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and then colored it with Copic markers (R29, R11).  The cupcake top was stamped with Memento Canteloupe ink and then I piled on some light yellow Liquid Pearls and a boatload of Limone' Art Institute glitter.  I attached the cupcake pieces to the forth Inchie square and adhered them all to a piece of Turquoise Sea  GKD PL cardstock and then layered to a white card that was embossed with dots.  The inside of the card was decorated using some of the scraps from the front.
Whew, now I will send you on your way to Sherri Seffens's blog for some more amazing eye candy!

Tag, your it!

Wow, four posts in the last week.........don't fall over.  :)

This fun little tag was made for my friend Karen Knegten as her Thank You for her time as a Stamp TV Challenge hostess for March, April and May.  Karen hosted the ABC (anything but a card) challenge.  One week she challenged us to create a tag.  It's kind of hard to see, but I stamped the doily from the GKD Nana's Needlework set in orange ink and embossed it with clear EP.  The sentiment is from the Friends are Forever set.  A little print paper, and some ribbon were added and voila my tag was done!

Thump, thump, thump

Today's card was created using the Thumping technique for coloring in the flower.  This card is for my pal Sharri Seffens who was the Blast from the Past Challenge hostess at STV for March, April and May. Each week Sharri would challenge us to use one of Gina's past techniques as our inspiration.

Gina K. has created an awesome video tutorial using this technique and you will find it here.  Did you know Gina K. releases a new video every Wednesday over at Stamp TV?  Click here for a list of past videos.

The stamps used are from the GKD Botanicals stamp set. The print papers were from a past GKD Card kit.   I used Tombow markers in a couple of shades of purple and green for the floral image.  The image was cut out with the Spellbinders Petite Oval and Petite Oval Scallop dies.  I finished off the card with some purple pearls and purple grosgrain ribbon.

This card is on it's way to Sharri!

Tina's Flowers

Whooo hooo, only a couple of days and I have another post up.  This card is for my friend Tina Gilliland as her thank you for her time as the color challenge hostess for March, April and May over at Stamp TV.  Tina's challenge was to use the colors:  Red, Kraft and Ivory.

The stamps used are from the Gina K. Designs Enjoy the Sunshine STV kit.  The cardstocks used are also from GKD.  The flowers were colored with Copics and embellished with red metallic dots.  The ivory panel was embossed with the Victorian Cuttlebug folder.  Spellbinders Fleur de Lis and labels dies were used as well.

Life is Good

Well, it has been a month (or more) of Sunday's since my last post.  I guess I just needed a little break from blogging.  I thought that I would have more time for stamping and blogging with DH working out of town during the week, but no.  I have been busy with lots of other stuff.  I am still teaching my classes at The Cat's Meow though and have lots of class samples to photograph and share.
The card I am sharing today was made for my friend Vicki Dutcher as a thank you for her time as a Stamp TV Challenge hostess.  Vicki was the sketch hostess for the months of March, April and May 2010.  My card is based on the sketch shown above.

The stamps are from the GKD Enjoy the Sunshine STV kit.  All cardstock and digital paper also from Gina K. Designs.    I will be mailing this card to Vicki (really, its addressed and ready to go).

Click here to see a complete gallery of cards inspired by Vicki's sketch.

Thanks for hanging in there, I will have another post for you in a couple of days.
