CSS Alumni CAS Blog Hop

Welcome to another fun blog hop being hosted by members of StampTV Center Stage Alumni. If you've arrived from Lori McAree's awesome blog then you're at the right place! To start at the beginning, please go to StampTV and hop from there.

Challenge Blog Hop Details:
Create a CAS card or project that contains only the following items and no others:
  • Your design must be CAS - Clean And Simple: lots of white or open space with one main focal point
  • One image
  • One sentiment
  • One layer card - your card base plus only one more layer
  • Embellishments - you can use any number of embellishments you want, but they all must be the same color

Without further ado, here is my card.  I used stamps from the Gina K. Designs Spirit of Christmas set. I used some red metallic dots for the ornaments and a bit of red ribbon too!

Now, I will send you to Melissa Schultz's awesome blog and see what gem she has created for the hop!

See you soon,

Pretty in Pink

Happy Friday!  It looks like we will have beautiful weather here this weekend.  I am all for that!  It is supposed to cool down next week I think.  A little cool weather is fine, but cold just isn't allowed.  Funny that I don't care for cold, but I love sitting inside somewhere warm and toasty and watching it snow!  Yep, I am a little bit goofy! :)

I was still in pink/brown mode from a recent CSS Alumni Blog hop when I created this pretty card.  The stamp and sentiment are both from the Wild at Heart set from Gina K. Designs. The glittered flourishes are some chipboard flourishes that had sticky backing on them and instead of trying to cover the front with adhesive, I just removed the sticky backing and dipped them in some pretty microfine glitter.  Easy peasy!

Well, I gotta run......have class kits to get ready for tomorrow.

Stamps:  Wild at Heart-Gina K. Designs
Paper:  Lt Pink, Dk Pink and Chocolate-Gina K. Designs, White-Neenah
Ink:  Memento Rich Cocoa
Extras:  Microfine Glitter, Pearls, Chipboard Flourishes, Circle and Lacey Circle Nestabilities

Scraptastic Creation #3

Happy Monday!  I hope today will be the start of a wonderful week for you.  The weather here in California should be pretty nice this week.  This so makes me happy........I don't look forward to the cold at all.

The card I am sharing with you today is a card I made “just for the heck of it”. It seems like between creating for classes and challenges (not that I am complaining) I don’t have a lot of “just for the heck of it” time.

I used a couple of sets from Gina K. Designs for this one. I used Lovely Labels #1 and You are Not Alone. I stamped and embossed the label with Versamark and Clear EP and cut it out by hand…….I can’t believe it, but I don’t have this die set. No problem, after I trimmed the label image, I just sanded the edges a bit with a white sanding block (they kind you use for acrylic nails) and it worked perfectly to smooth out the edges. I stamped the floral image from You are Not Alone on PL Ivory cardstock with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and then went over each of the blossoms with a Chocolate Spica Glitter pen. It might be hard to see in the photo, but the shimmer is so pretty!  Everything except for the card base is scraps, so I give this a Scrap Factor of 9.

Whatever you do today, make it a happy one!

Recipe:
Stamps: Lovely Labels 1 & You are Not Alone-Gina K. Designs
Paper: Green-notecard from Memory Box, everything else is scrap from previous projects!
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa, Versamark
Extras: Rhinestones, Chocolate Spica Glitter pen, brads, ribbon, Scallop circle nesties.

Thanks so Much!

Well, me and my Center Stage Alumni buddies are hopping again.  This time Carolina gave us a great sketch to work with.  The sketch was based on a card by my awesome stamping pal Deb Felts.  You can see Deb's card here and the sketch below. Hopefully you arrived here from Kay's blog, but if you didn't, you can go back to Stamp TV and start at the beginning.

I have to laugh because when I first saw the sketch I immediately knew what I wanted to do, I immediately thought about doing a card with a Christmas them and snowflakes but then I remembered I did snowflakes last time we hopped and I didn't want y'all to think I was snowflake crazy (I am by the way).

So what you will see is a  Thank You card I came up with using some of my favorite fall colors.

I used stamps from three different Gina K. Designs sets on this card.  First I stamped the script image from the Botanicals set onto a piece of print cardstock and then I inked up one of the beautiful flowers from the Pressed Flowers set with three colors of Versacolor ink and stamped and embossed it three times over the script print.  The last two stamps I used were from the Fanciful Tags set.  I love how the images and sentiments in this set match perfectly with the Spellbinders Fancy Labels set.

The recipe is below if you would like to know the nitty gritty about this card.  I don't want to keep you long as there is so much for you to look at.  Head on over to Melissa's blog and check it out!

Recipe:
Stamps:  Fanciful Tags, Pressed Flowers, Botanicals-Gina K. Designs
Paper:  Orange-Worldwin, All prints from the Cosmo Cricket Wanted collection.
Inks:  Adirondack Caramel, Versacolor Burgundy, Paprika and Topaz
Extras:  1 tiny little rhinestone, ribbon, a prima flower, a flower from my stash and some Clear EP

Tall Oaks

Happy hump day!  So here we are in the middle of the week and the weather isn't any better in my neck of the woods.  Hopefully, we will see some sunshine this weekend.  This card used another one of the fabulous sketches Julee created for the Verve World Card Making Day Release Challenges.  This card uses VSWCMD4, you will find all of the details here.  I used stamps from the Tall Oaks set that I gotten last year and had never used.....bad, bad, bad.   I had a blast creating this card, the circle ring was a fun element to play with.  If you have a little time, you should check out the challenges.  There are prizes to be won!

Recipe:
Stamps:  Tall Oaks-Verve
Paper:  Lt Aqua-Prism, All prints from Cosmo Cricket's Nutmeg collection
Ink:  Memento Rich Cocoa
Extras:  Circle Nestabilities, ribbon, Copics (E31, E33, E35 and E37), Glossy Accents

Joy to Me

Happy Monday to you all!  We are sure having some rainy, yucky weather here in Central CA.  I shouldn't complain, but I am a sunshine girl and don't do gray and gloomy very well.  To combat the ugly weather, I went into the studio and created this fun, bright card for one of the Verve World Card Making Day Release Week Challenges.  You know I love my Verve stamps and haven't been very nice to them and inked them up for awhile........no better way to remedy that than to play along with some of the challenge sketches.  My stamps are much happier with me now. :)

You can find all of the sketches and details to play along here.  This card used sketch VSWCMD1.  I used stamps from the Great Friend and Kind Words sets.  I love how the flowers layer up so pretty!

Recipe:
Stamps:  Great Friend, Kind Words-Verve
Paper:  Black, White-Stash, Green Gingham-Amuse, Petite Floral Print-Memory Box, Aqua-Prism, Urban Prairie/Bountiful-Basic Grey
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Extras:  Cuttlebug EF, Copic BG0000, Nestabilities Labels 2, Pearl Brad

I'll have another Verve card for you in a day or two.  Be sure to come back and check it out.
