STV Sketch Spotlight (STVSKSP4)

Happy Tuesday to you all!  I hope this finds you getting into the holiday spirit.  I have done most of my Christmas shopping and just need to pick up a few odds and ends and some stocking stuffers.  What do you put in the stockings of 19 and 23 year old boys?  I have to admit, our holiday gift buying has been pared down over the last few years and that is fine with me.  Now,  don't think I have gone Bah Humbug or anything because I do love Christmas but I do think the whole gift thing has gotten out of hand a bit.  I can't imagine what my boys would say if I put an apple/orange in their stockings like I got when I was a kid.  Oh, maybe I should try it and have the camera ready for the priceless look on their faces....LOL

The card I am sharing with you today was created for this weeks sketch challenge over at StampTV.
The image and sentiment are from the GKD Light of the Season set.  I colored the image in with Copics and then went over most of it with Spica glitter pens.  I did the same for the little heart on the sentiment panel.  The base card was embossed with the cuttlebug and disressed to give it an old worn look.  The image and gold panels were cut out with the Spellbinders Labels 14 dies.  A little ribbon and some flowers and I called it good!

Remember, there is a new sketch and video every Monday on StampTV.  If you play along you could win free stamps.  Come and join the fun!  Thanks for stopping by for a visit, I really appreciate each and everyone of you whether you just pop in and take a look at my latest creation or you take a moment and leave me a comment.  I love you all the same!

Stamps:  Light of the Season-GKD
Ink:  Memento Rich Cocoa
Paper:  PL Ivory-GKD, Golden Double Dot-Bo Bunny
Extras:  Copics, Labels 14 dies, Spica glitter pens, ribbon, flowers, buttons, Cuttlebug EF

CSS Inspiration Hop

Hi there!  I hope your Thanksgiving was a wonderful one.  Tonight the gals from the Center Stage Alumni Team are gathering to share creations inspired by the following photo:

You should have arrived here from Lori's blog, if not you can go back to the beginning at StampTV and start from there.  You wouldn't want to miss a thing!

The first thing that caught my eye when I saw this photo was the snowflake cookie.  Of course it would be the snowflake.....you all knew that.  :)  After the snowflake it was the sweets and the thought of giving some sweet treats as a gift.

I had recently found some cute little snowflake buckets in the dollar bin at Target and I knew one would be perfect for this challenge.  I will apologize now for the poor quality of the pics, we have had little to no sunshine here.  Just lots of that white stuff that falls from the sky.

I used stamps from the Winter Mittens and Winter Wonderland sets from Gina K. Designs.  These sets work so well together.  I put some hot cocoa mix, a peppermint stick and some chocolates in the bucket.  Yum-O!  I created the snowflake ornament from the Spellbinders Pendent die, some rhinestones and a few beads.  Easy peasy!

Well, I am going to send you on your way now.........Melissa has something special to share with you too!

Hugs,

STV Color Spotlight Challenge 3

Good Morning!  I am so loving the Spotlight Color challenge from StampTV this week.  The colors for this week are:

Aren't these the happiest colors?  I just love, love them.  You should head on over to StampTV and check out the challenge.  Did you know, you could win a GKD stamp set?  Come on, join in on the fun!
For both cards I used A Year of Borders and Inside and Out from Gina K. Designs.   On both cards I stamped the seashell border/sentiments with Aqua Colorbox ink and then embossed them with Pearl powder.  I used my Scor-It to create borders for the print paper strips on the first card and the sentiment on the second card.  Both cards are embellished with some pretty little pearls.

TIP: When you emboss pearl powder over a colored ink, the powder takes on the color of the ink......so pretty.

Recipe:
Stamps:  A Year of Borders, Inside and Out-GKD
Paper:  PL Ocean Mist, Green Apple and White-GKD, Print-October Afternoon
Ink:  Aqua-Colorbox
Extras:  Pearl EP, Pearls, Ribbon, Scor-It, Copic BG0000, Nesties Circle and Scallop Circle Dies, Nesties Petite Oval and Scalloped Oval Dies

I'll be back with another post later tonight.  Us CSSer's are at it again!  See ya soon!

Holiday Wishes

Good Monday morning to you all!  I want to start by wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving week.  I hope you take some time to enjoy a yummy meal and the company of family and friends.  I am not a black Friday shopper.  For those of you who are, I hope you find everything you head out looking for.

The card I am sharing with you today is for the  StampTV Spotlight Sketch (STVSPSK3) this week.  I used stamps from the Winter Foliage set to create a signature (for me) pinecone Christmas card, I started with a base card of PL Kraft cardstock.  I cut it to 4 1/4" x 11" and folded in half with the card opening on the right.  Then I layered up some PL Red Hot and Memory Box dot cardstocks.  I stamped the sentiment on a piece of kraft and adhered it to the card in the "flag" fashion. The image was stamped onto PL Ivory cardstock and layered to some more Red Hot cardstock.  The pine sprigs were stamped a second time and I snipped between the needles, added some ink around the edges and a little bit of Smooch to give them some shimmer.  I popped these up over the stamped image and finished the pine cones with some Cinnamon Stickles.   A little red twine bow/button combo and some green Dew Drops were added to finish off the card.

I hope you will consider playing along with the challenge this week as Gina will be giving away a stamp set valued at $24.95 or less.  Read all about it here.

Christmas Bunny

Isn't this little bunny adorable?  I got him last month when Alma from The Cat's Pajamas came for a visit at The Cat's Meow.   I have been so busy, that this is the first time I have had a chance to ink him up.  I paper pieced his hat and a few of the presents and the rest was colored with Copics.  The print cardstocks are from  two different paper collections from My Minds Eye.  I love how they worked so well together.  The sketch is #91 from the Card Patterns Weekly Sketch Blog.  I have been wanting to create with one of their sketches for some time now and today was the day!  Over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog, Cindy has asked that we use a circle on our card/project this week.  Love it when challenges can come together and play nice!

Stamps:  Define Good-The Cat's Pajamas
Paper:  My Minds Eye (Colorful Christmas and ??)
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Extras:  Copics, Nesties, Rhinestones, Glitter, Corner Chomper, Sakura Stardust Glitter pens, Spica Glitter pens

Wanna skate?

Happy Friday!  Today is Color Spotlight Challenge on StampTV and I love this weeks colors.  Gina asked us to use the following:

I love these colors together, especially this time of year when we are in Christmas card mode.

I knew I wanted to use these fun snowflakes from the lastest StampTV Kit called Winter Wonderland so I decided I would create my own background paper by embossing them with some White Diamonds embossing powder.  If you have never seen White Diamonds EP, it is the prettiest silvery glitter nestled in white powder.  The adorable little ice skates are also from the Winter Wonderland kit and I stamped them with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and filled the boot part in with my Quickie Glue pen and dunked those puppies in the prettiest Glitter Ritz microfine glitter.   I used the color called Warm Highlights and I get it here.   I think these ice skates must belong to a Princess, they are so sparkly! I colored the laces with the Sakura White Glaze pen and the blades with the Sakura Stardust pen.

This card is 4 1/4" square and one of the things that I like to do is bring the ribbon to the edge and tie it off with a little bit of twine and a button.  It will still fit nicely into a standard A2 envelope.  I saw Anna Wight do this along time ago and I just love it!

Well, I gotta run and think about cooking something yummy for dinner (wouldn't want to eat anything yucky afterall!)

Let Heaven and Nature Sing

Happy Wednesday!  Yesterday I spent some time in the studio working up prototypes for my Christmas cards.  This is one of them.  I have been making Christmas cards with pinecones on them for the last several years.  I can't tell you how many stamps I have with pine sprigs, pinecones, pine boughs...etc. The stamp I used for this card is one that I have had for several years.  It comes from Penny Black and I just love it!

I inked up the stamp with Tombow Watercolor Markers, spritzed it with a wee bit of water and stamped it onto some Prismatics cardstock. The edges were shaded a bit with Tea Dye Distress ink to soften the hard edge of the tan cardstock.  The print paper has a music them and lots of pretty glitter mixed in. It is from a My Minds Eye Glitter paper pad from last year.  I don't know if I will ever use it all up, I think there were over 50 sheets in the pad.  The sentiment is from Memory Box.  This saying is one that I used years ago on a Christmas card (long before there was a stamp for it), I wish I had this stamp then!  I layered everything up with some Hunter green cardstock that I have had in my stash for awhile, it could be Bazzil as it has some texture to it.  I added a twiney bow and a button and called it good!  The bow really isn't wonky, but it sure does look that way in the picture. :)

Have a great day!

Pretty Little Poinsettias

Today, I am sharing a card I made for the Color Spotlight Challenge on StampTV.  Gina challenged us to use the following colors:

I immediately knew what I wanted to do for my card.  I didn't have the poinsettia stamp yet (but I knew it was on the way) as I had won it from the amazing illustrator, Melanie Muenchinger a few days before.  To make all of the elements come together I created this card in a 5" x 7" size.  The top and bottom of the card were embossed with a Cuttlebug folder and then I used my Scor-It to add the embossed line just below and just above the sentiment from Festive Frame set. The wreath was embossed on PL White cardstock and layered to panels of PL Red Hot and PL Turquoise Sea cardstocks.  I stamped, colored and layered the poinsettias from Melanie's A Year of Borders set to the wreath, added lots of pretty turquoise rhinestones and a bow and called it good.

There is still time to play along with the challenge and have a chance at winning a stamp set from Gina K. Designs.  Click here for more info.

Have a great day,

Here for You

Hello and welcome to another Center Stage Spotlight Alumni blog hop......whew, that is a mouthful! This time we have a color challenge for you.  We were to create a card or project using the following color combo:

  • White or Ivory
  • Brown
  • Light Blue (Little Boy Blue, Ocean Mist, or Turquoise Sea)
  • Yellow (Lemon Drop, Sweet Corn, or Wild Dandelion)
You should have arrived at my blog from Lori McAree's awesome blog, but if you didn't you can go back to StampTV and start from the beginning.

For my card I chose to use:  Ivory, Brown, Ocean Mist and Sweet Corn.

The stamps I used are from the GKD Lean on Me and Enjoy the Sunshine sets.  I toned down the Ocean Mist layer with a little bit of Tea Dye Distress ink to help it match the tone of the Sweet Corn cardstock. Isn't it awesome that we can do that with just a little bit of ink?   I am going to send you on your way now to Miesje Flach's blogaroonie so you can check out her amazing creation using these colors.

Recipe:
Stamps:  Lean on Me, Enjoy the Sunshine-GKD
Ink:  Memento Rich Cocoa, Tea Dye Distress
Paper:  PL Ivory, Ocean Mist, Sweet Corn-GKD, K & Co. scrap from stash
Extras:  Ribbon, Flowers, Nesties, EK Edge Punch

To Everything there is a Season

Happy Wednesday to you all!  The card I am sharing with you today is one that I created for the StampTV Sketch Challenge from Monday.  You can check it out here.  Every week you can have a chance to win free stamps..........who doesn't love free stamps?

For my card I used a wonderful set created by Nina Brackett for GKD. The set is called Lord of the Season and has a variety of topiarys and scriptures in it.  I colored the image with Copics.

Although there are several layers, this card went together pretty quickly (if you call two hours quick) for me.

The recipe is:

Stamps:  Lord of the Season-GKD
Paper:  PL White and Wine with Everything-GKD, Pumpkin Bazzill, Print from Basic Grey's Indian Summer collection.
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Extras:  Copics, Spellbinders Petite Oval and Petite Scallop Oval dies, Glossy Accents, Rhinestones, Spica Glitter pens.

Wishing you joy!

Hi there!   Today I am sharing a card a made a couple of weeks ago.  I created this card for my friend Vicki's sketch challenge over at StampTV.  You can see the sketch and gallery here.  It is no secret that I love, love snowflakes.  I have had these Spellbinders Flake 1 dies for a couple of years now, and have hardly used them.  I guess possessing them is enough. :)

The print papers are from the Memory Box Mistletoe collection.  I used some Kraft cardstock for the card base and snowflakes.  The flakes were shaded with some Tea Dye Distress ink.  I added some flourishes and rhinestones to finish off the card.  This card is 4 1/4" square.

Stamps:  Blessed is the Season-Gina K. Designs
Ink:  Memento Rich Cocoa, Tea Dye Distress
Paper:  PL Kraft-Gina K. Designs, Mistletoe Prints-Memory Box
Extras:  Flourishes Die-Sizzix, Rhinestones, Nesties Lables and Snowflakes Dies

See you soon,
