Go for the Icing

Happy Monday......is it?  I hope your weekend was a good one. On Saturday we went to Fresno to buy one of these and we came home to a bunch of that cold, white stuff that the weatherman said we were going to get.  Yuck!  It snowed off and on for a few hours, but we really only ended up with a light dusting.  Thank goodness!

Yesterday, I found a little time to get into the studio and play.  I recently joined the Outlawz Challenge group and on Sunday's they post a new CAS challenge.  CAS is so hard for me to do, I always have good intentions of keeping my cards fresh and clean but tend to over layer or embellish.  I am pretty happy with how this card turned out though.  I combined the CAS sketch from the Outlawz with the TCPTuesday challenge for this week which is to use these colors:

which I paired with this sketch:
I stamped this sweet bunny from The Cat's PJ's Forget About the Cake set onto a scrap of white cardstock with brown ink and then colored with Copics (colors listed below) and paper pieced with some of the adorable new Stella and Rose line from My Minds Eye.  Want this stamp/paper?  You can get them here

Recipe:
Stamps:  Forget About the Cake-Cat's Pajamas
Paper:  Neenah Solor White, Stella and Rose-MME
Ink:  Memento Rich Cocoa
Extras:  Copics (BG72, R20, R30, R32,W1,W7 and Blender), White Glossy Accents, Diamond Dust Glass Glitter, Yellow Spica pen, Clear Glossy Accents

CSS Treasure Chest Hop

Happy Friday Y'all!

Tonight I have gathered together with several of  my fellow Center Stage Alumni to introduce you to our first Treasure Chest Blog Hop.  The idea behind this hop is that we will be digging into the Treasure Chest from time to time and pulling out treasures to share with you.  Tonight we are sharing stamps from the Animal Kingdom...........Gina K's Animal Kingdom that is.  The challenge was to use any of the GKD sets that had an animal in it.  I chose to use the beautiful owl from the Hope Grows set illustrated by the talented Theresa Momber

You should have arrived at my blog from the ever so talented Lori McAree's blog, if not you can go back to StampTV and start from the beginning.  Really you should, you don't want to miss a thing!

I chose to follow along with this weeks Outlawz color challenge to use Lime, Charcoal and White and some bling.  I kinda tossed in a bit (okay a lot) of black too!  In an effort to use up some scrap my card is sized at 3 1/2" x 6".  I colored this adorable little owl with C1 and C3 Copics and sprinkled in some Stardust pen for a bit of glitz.  I cut the leafy flourish from some lime cardstock and then added some shadowing with YG03 and YG09 Copics.  To create the blinged out edging, I used both the postive and negative sections from the edge die.  I love how it worked out, I guess you would call that "seredipity."

Now that you have made it this far, I want to let you know that Gina K. is going to give away a free set valued at $24.95 or less to one lucky person.  Be sure to stop by each of the blogs along the hop and leave a comment.  Entering to win is as easy as that.  On Tuesday March 1, Gina will randomly choose a winner.  It could be you!

I am sending you on to Melissa Shultz's blog, where she has created a fabulous project for you.

Recipe:
Stamps:  Hope Grows-Gina K. Designs
Paper:  PL Smoky Slate, Black, White-GKD, Lime Green and Dot Print-SEI
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black

Flowers for You

Hello and happy Wednesday!  I hope the weather is behaving where you are because it isn't behaving like I would like it to here.  Rain and snow are on the way again.  Enough already!   I have a Spring inspired card to share with you today.  If only Spring would hurry up and get here.

I am so excited to share today's card with you.  Several weeks ago I received an e-mail from the very talented Melanie Muenchinger asking me if I would like to guest design for her.  Of course, I got right back to here and said HECK YA!  I love Melanie's floral sets and this one is another hit! The set I have been blessed to work with is called Spring Basket and is available now at Gina K. Designs. The sentiment is from Melanie's A Year of Flowers set.  The sketch was created by the talented Suzanne Dean for one of the GKD Release Party challenges.  Of course, I am a couple of days late for the challenge, but that is how I roll these days!  I chose to work with the colors for this week's CR84FN16 Color Challenge.  The challenge this week was to use Light Pink, Medium Violet and Gray.  It is so hard to see in this pic, but the print paper behind the beautiful basket of flowers is some old, old light gray/white diamond pattern paper that I found while recently trying to "organize" my paper stash.  I glittered up the flowers with some Spica glitter pens, added some pink twine and called it good.

For those of you who have been sending your thoughts and prayers for my Mom, I am pleased to say she is doing well after her surgery last Friday.  I am off to visit with her today. :)

Recipe:
Stamps:  Spring Basket, A Year of Flowers-GKD
Paper:  all from my stash-----yippee!
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Extras:  Twine, Copics, Spicas, Rhinestones, Flourishes

Buzzin' by with an OBG (oldie but goodie)

Today I hopping with the gals from the Design Diva's Facebook group.  It is time for our monthly OBG (oldie but goodie) hop.  The idea behind this hop is for us to pull something out of our stash that is at least 6 months old and give it some love.

You should have arrived at my blog from Mary's amazing blog, if not you can go back to my pal Brenda's blog and start from the beginning.

For my card I pulled out my Impression Obsession Beehive stamp.  I have had this stamp for along time and only used it once before.  So sad, huh?  I would love to take credit for this awesome layout, but it's not mine.  Nope, it is this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch #104.  I just flipped it onto its side so that it would work with my image.  I used the colors from this weeks CR84FN15 color challenge.  We were asked to use green, teal and yellow.  I found these beautiful papers from Creative Inspirations in my pile and went to work.  The hive is stamped on a piece of SEI paper from the Mimosa collection (winter 2010 maybe?)

I colored the image with Copic markers and added a variety of Spica glitter pens for some shimmer.  The little bees were colored with glitter pens and the wings are filled in with some pretty crystal glitter. I finished off this card with some lace and a button tied with a bit of twine.

I am going to send you on your way to Shelly's wonderful blog. Enjoy the rest of the hop!

I'm back and ready to hop!

Wow, what a hectic couple of weeks around here.  Thank you all for the sweet thoughts and prayers in regards to my Mom's fall and upcoming surgery to have some stents put in.  Hopefully, she will be on the road to recovery soon.  Yeah!

Tonight I am joining up with some of my pals from the StampTV for an inspiration blog hop.  You should have arrived at my blog after looking at Lori's awesome creation.  If you didn't, you don't want to miss a thing and should head back to StampTV and start from the beginning.   Below is the photo that our amazing team member Miesje chose to inspire us:

As you can see I was inspired by the colors in the photo.   I used the Winter Wings set (one of my favorite sets from Gina K. Designs) for my card.

I am going to send you on your way to Melissa's blog so that you can see the fabulous design that she has come up with.

Recipe:
Stamps:  Winter Wings-GKD

3 hospitals in 4 days

Hello, just a quick little post today to let you know that my postings may be a little sparse for a bit.  Last Thursday my Mom fell in her home and was taken to the hospital, after several tests they found some blockages around her heart, she was transferred to a different hospital where a Triple Bypass could be done, but once we got there and they started the pre-op testing they have some concerns with her lungs.  Surgery is on hold at the moment.  She is still in the hospital and we are waiting to see what is next.

Then I got a call yesterday that the husband of the owner of my lss was taken to another hospital via ambulance for some pain in his tummy.  Sharon is in LA at CHA and so I went to the ER so that I could let her talk to him on my cell phone.  She is on her way home now.  Egads.........life is on overload right now.

For those of you who were scheduled to come to my class last Saturday, I have everything cut and ready and will get class rescheduled as soon as I can.
