Winter Day

I am on the road today, but wanted to share a card I made for this weeks Potluck Friday challenge at StampTV. Lee's challenge is called One plus One. One color (family) and one neutral. I happen to love monochromatic cards so this was an easy one for me to whip out. I was pretty happy that I only worked on this one for an hour. Usually it takes me 2-3 hours once I get started. I think my mind wanders sometimes! :)

I had seen this layout awhile back and copied it and put it in my "layouts to use someday file". There wasn't a name on the inspiration card, so I don't know who to thank for the great layout. If you recognize it, give me a shout out so I can give proper credit.

I had these two sheets of Aqua (one light and one medium) cardstocks in my stash and thought they would be perfect paired with white and the trees from the GKD Tree Silhouettes set. I stamped and embossed the trees with white EP and then layered it with the white and lt aqua panels. I wrapped some 1/8" aqua organdy ribbon around the lt aqua panel and then attached it to the med aqua card with foam tape. I finished off this card with some Stardust Stickles on the tree limbs and the ground and a punched snowflake adorned with an aqua rhinestone.

Happy Saturday!

Whimsy Pumpkin

Happy Wednesday!
I hope this card finds everyone having a wonderful day! I am busy getting ready for my Copic class on Saturday. You should see my studio floor, there are little piles everywhere. :) I am a bit retentive when it comes to packing kits, so it is a job I have to do by myself. I wouldn't want to run any of my pals off by letting them help.

This adorable (okay, I think it's adorable) card was created for the Monday Color challenge STVCC30 on at StampTV. The challenge was to use the colors: Pumpkin Spice, Green Apple and So Saffron and a neutral. I didn't have So Saffron cardstock, so I picked a nice harvest yellow from the same DCWV pad that I used a couple of days ago. I am bound and determined to use it up! The print cardstock is from Basic Grey's Marrakesh collection.

The card is 4-Bar in size (3 1/2 x 5) and has like a bazillion layers! This cute little pumpkin is from the Whimsical Autumn set and was inked up with Adirondack Espresso for the top of the pumpkin, Memento Potter's Clay for the pumpkin and Memento Bamboo Leaves for the vines. The pumpkin was colored with Y34, YR04 and YR07 Copic markers. All of the oval layers were cut with Classic Oval and Classic Scallop Oval Nesties. I finished off the card with some natural woven ribbon and a few buttons from Foo Fa La. I think that glittery orange button is cool and funky. It has a hole in the middle that was just perfect for the yellow button. The interior of the buttons were finished off with some twine.

Enjoy today!

Oh Happy Day

Can I just say, we are having a beautiful day here in Central CA! Our day is much like the image on this card. The birds are singing and there is a gentle breeze. I love it!

I created this card for this weeks TSG20 Partially Popped challenge over on the TSG blog. I popped up some of the leaves, clouds and the birds. What fun! The tree was colored with YG01, YG03 and YG05 Copic markers. The grass, birds and clouds are all pieced and popped from My Mind's Eye cardstock. The tree trunk is pieced with wood grain cardstock from Amuse. I created the background by putting the four itty bitty music notes on one block and stamping repeatedly. The inside has a little paper pieced bird and the sentiment "Just droppin' you a line..." For a bit of sparkle, I colored the leaves, birds and clouds with Spica Glitter pens in Green, Orange and Pink

Recipe:

Stamps: Happy Day Set-There She Goes Clear Stamps Cardstock: Cream from Stash, All prints- My Mind's Eye Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black Extras: Ribbon, Copics, Spica Glitter Pens

I am off to the post office and have some copies made for this weekend.

Have a great day!

The 11th Hour

Well, here it is! My card for the TSG19 sketch challenge from last Monday. It really is the 11th hour for this card! It is 11:00 pm and I am finally finished and ready to post. I have had this card in my head since I saw the sketch on Monday. This week was a busy one, with getting DH off on his fishing trip and all. Men! Why can't they ever find their socks......he is in Mexico.....I say go barefoot! The fish won't care!

Oh, I digress, the base cardstock is from the DCWV Spring Cardstock Stack (I think I have had this for 2 years, maybe 3), the rest of the cardstock is from the Basic Grey Marrakech 6 x 6 paper pad.

All of the stamps used were from the TSG Treemendous set. Isn't that tiny bird the cutest? The brad is from Kaisercraft's Pennyroyal collection (range - if your talking to an Aussie) :) The inks are: Adirondack Espresso and Lettuce for the tree and Memento Cantaloupe and Potter's Clay for the leaves. The little bird is Memento Bahama Blue. I better run, so I can add this to Mr. Linky on the TSG blog.

Sneaky Peeky for Green Tangerines

Today I have a sneak peek to share with you. I will be heading to Green Tangerines in Rocklin, CA next Saturday to teach a group of gals about Copic Markers. After a bit of time learning about the markers, they will complete one card using the Whoooo Owls from Stampendous and one using the Santa Gift stamp from Hero Arts.

For my local gals at The Cat's Meow, you will create these two, plus one more in my October 31st (I think) class. I have a boatload of classes (4) planned for October, so be sure to check with Sharon to sign up.

ETA: Have passport, will travel to teach........hello Ireland or Germany or Australia ..........I am waiting to here from you. :=)

Stamping hugs,

TSG Trendsetting Spotlight

How surprised was I this morning when I sat down with my trusty cup of coffee, turned on the lappy and started going through my Google reader only to find that I had been chosen for the Trendsetting Spotlight on the There She Goes blog. What a great way to start my day! You can read all about it here.

Thank you Jessica and the TSG Team!

Coffee and Friends

Hi there! Today will be a busy day for me. I am headed to town to visit my Mom and we have tons of errands to run. David is busy getting ready for his "big' fishing trip with the guys. With all of the new airline rules regarding bags, he has had to pack and unpack and re-pack to make it all work.

While he is gone, I will be getting class kits ready and packing a bag of my own to head up north and teach. I leave the day he gets home. We will be like two ships that pass in the night!

Today's card is one I made for Vicki's color challenge (STVCC28)over on StampTV. She choose black, pink, gray and white. I was surprised to find I didn't really have any gray cardstock. I did have this pretty satin ribbon and this floral scrap of cardstock from Luxe.

I stamped the coffee cup from Gina K's Signs of Autumn set once on the white background and again on the backside of the lightest pink Bazzill bling cardstock that I was using. I overstamped the pink coffee cup with the little swirl from Carolyn King's Whimsical Autumn set, cut it out and paper pieced to the image on the white panel. I then colored the saucer and cup with R81 and R85 Copic markers to add some dimension.

I am really enjoying fixing up the inside of my cards also. For this card, I layered a piece of black cardstock and another scrap of the flowered cs to the inside base of the card. The sentiment is from Gina K's Thanks a Million set and was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I have a friend who loves coffee drinks so I am going to send this to her. Her kids have just started back to school, so I am hoping she will take a moment for herself and enjoy a good cup of joe.

I'll be back in a couple of days with a sneak peek of the cards I will be teaching at Green Tangerines in Rocklin, CA.

Have a great day,

Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies

I have finally found the perfect Chocolate Chip cookie recipe. So, I know your thinkin', man she is blond, doesn't she know the recipe is on the back of the Nestle's bag?

I love to bake, but for the life of me could never make the "perfect" chocolate chip cookie. They were either undercooked, overcooked, flat and crispy or just plain flat!

See those luscious babies up there? They actually came out of my oven. Can you tell I am excited? I found this recipe, Chocolate Chip Cookies, while I was surfing the Tasty Kitchen website. They are a little crispy around the edges, chewy in the middle and not too sweet. I used my cookie scoop (approx 1 1/4" round) to measure out my dough with. I cooked them for 14 minutes at 350*

If you haven't been to Tasty Kitchen yet, run don't walk. Your taste buds (and your families) will be happy you did. Tasty Kitchen is the brainchild of Ree Drummond, AKA: The Pioneer Woman. If you haven't been to her blog yet, grab a cup of coffee and head over there now. You won't want to miss a thing!

For you cardies, I'll have a new one up tomorrow!

Hugs,

Happiness

Happy Saturday Everyone!

I think today is going to be a beautiful (but warm) day here in CA. The birds are playing in the sprinklers and the deer are happily eating the watermelon rinds I left out for them. It is usually a race between the deer and Mr. Jack Bunny to see who will get the watermelon!

The card I am sharing today is for the TSG18-Custom Designer Paper challenge. I created the background by stamping most of the images from the Polka Dot Blooms set in various shades of aqua, blue and a touch of lavender Colorbox inks onto white cardstock. It is hard to see, but this panel was then covered with my glue pad and sprinkled with microfine crystal glitter. If only you could see the sparkle! The sentiment is from the Flowers of Happiness set and was stamped in Robin's Egg Blue Colorbox ink. Both of the print panels are layered to lavendar and lt aqua/teal prismatics cardstock. The lavendar layers are teeny tiny! The card was finished off with some ribbon and rhinestones.

There is still time to play in this challenge. Click on the TSG18 link above for details.

Stamps: Polka Dot Blooms, Flowers of Happiness-TSG Paper: Neenah CCSW, Lavendar and Lt Aqua Prismatics Inks: Various Aqua, Blue and Lavendar Colorbox Cat's Eye ink pads Extras: Ribbon, rhinestones, glue pad and glitter.

Happy Stamping,

Thankful for You

Happy Thursday Y'all!

I created this card with my hubby in mind. I wanted him to know that I really do appreciate that he gets up (way before the chickens) and commutes a minimum of 45 miles one way to work (depends where the job site is) out in the wonderful CA sunshine. Man, I love this guy.

Okay, enough of the lovey, dovey stuff. There wasn't any special technique other that Cuttlebug embossing for the card, just some straight forward stampin' and layerin'.

Here are the deets:
Stamps: Signs of Autumn Stamp TV Kit-Gina K Designs
Cardstock: Pure Luxury Black and Green Apple-GKD, Neenah CCSW
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versacolor Bamboo
Extras: Buttons, Twine and Herringbone EF
