Happy Scrappy Time!

Hi there!  I hope your Monday was a good one. I came home from work tonight all prepared to go into the studio and work on an upcoming class project that really needs to be finished an photographed ASAP.

Instead I turned on Mr. Lappy and saw a message that was posted  on my friend Sue's blog that said Betty told her that Melanie was having a little challenge over on her blog, I figured if Betty and Sue were going to have a little fun, I should too.  So I had to go and see what it was all about.  Melanie has put up the challenge for us to use the scraps that are on our desk right now.

See that little pile of stuff up there?  That is what was on my desk.  I also had the GKD Spring Mix set out, so I decided to use it with the scraps.   I came up with the two cards below.

What a fun way to use up my scraps!  Thanks for the challenge Melanie, I really enjoyed it!  Now, I am off to get some rest.  Nighty night!

Friends

Happy Sunday morning to you!  It looks like it is going to be a beautiful day here today.  Any day when the sun is shining is beautiful to me.  Even when it's crazy hot here in California, I love to see the sunshine!

I made this card using Nina's fun sketch that she created for her blogoversary challenge and giveaway.  You can read all about it here

I started with a base card of PL Chocolate Kiss and then added some print cardstock from the Memory Box Frond 6 x 6 pack.  (I love, love this paper collection)  I stamped and embossed the flowers from the Spring Mix kit on a scrap of the Frond cardstock with Rich Cocoa Memento ink.    I added the image panel to a Choc Kiss petite scallop nesties panel and added a boatload of light blue rhinestones to add some sparkle and shine.  The sentiment and butterfly were stamped with Rich Cocoa ink as well. I took a little creative liberty and moved the bow over so that it wouldn't compete with the sentiment.

Tip:  To emboss using Memento ink, first ink up your stamp with Versamark and then with your Memento pad.  This allows the ink to stay wet long enough to add the embossing powder.

I wish you all a lovely Sunday,

Nana's Basket

Hi there and Happy Thursday to you all!  Today I am sharing two more cards using Nina's new set called Nana's Needlework from GKD.  For both of these cards I used the basket of yarn image.  For the first card, I simply stamped the image with Rich Cocoa Memento ink on a cream circle panel and on some patterned paper from Webster's Pages.  The balls of yarn were colored with Copic markers and hi-lighted with some Spica Glitter pens.  The knitting needles were colored with my Sakura Clear Glitter pen (not sure why it's called clear, when it looks silver.)  The base card was embossed with my Cuttlebug and Textile Texture EF.  The print cardstocks are all from Webster's Pages Home for the Holidays/Winter's Wings 6 x 6 pack.  For my next card, I inked up only the basket and then added some of the cute little flowers

that are included in the set.  I stamped a few of the flowers on scrap, colored them with Copics and popped them up in and on the basket.  I added Glossy Accents and some crystal glitter to the popped up flowers.  The base card is PL Kraft  that was layered with some PL Sweet Corn and Neenah Natural that was embossed with my Swiss Dots CB EF.  The fun checked print is from the October Afternoon Farm Fresh pad.  I used two MS punches around the check panel.  This card was finished off with some faux stitching,  red satin ribbon and a couple of little MS butterfly punchies.

Violet Pearl Doily

Yep, I am still playing with my Nans's Needlework and Sentiments sets from GKD.  This time I went with a monochromatic theme using hues of purple.  The 4 1/4" square base card is PL Lovely Lavender.  I stamped the awesome doily in Lulu Lavender Memento ink randomly on the card base.  The doily was then stamped with Grape Memento ink on a  PL White panel.  The sentiment was also stamped in Grape ink, cut out with petite oval nesties and shaded with some Lulu Lavender.  Both the sentiment and image panels are layered onto PL Vibrant Violet panels.  I finished off with some lavender satin ribbon tied in a pretty bow and lots of little white pearls and a large pearl brad.  Scary, I didn't use rhinestones or glitter!

This is the final card I am entering in the Moxie Fab Diggin' on Doilies challenge.  I hope you're still keeping your fingers crossed for me.  Well, I know Debbie is!

Tangerine Doily

Hey there!  Today I am sharing another one of my doily cards using Nana's Needlework created by Nina  for GKD .  I started with a 4 1/4" square white cream card base and ran it through the bug with the Textile Texture EF. I had this pretty cardstock from Cosmo Cricket hanging out on my desk, waiting to be used so I stamped the doily with Tangerine Colorbox Chalk ink on cream cardstock and then cut the doily and tangerine base layer with my circle nesties.  Oh, how I love those nesties!  The circles are attached to the base card with foam tape.  I embellished the doily with a couple of copics and some blingy rhinestones.  The bottom of the card is adorned with some more of the pretty orange cardstock (Cosmo Cricket), some crochet ribbon and buttons.  The buttons are tied with skinny twine.  I just couldn't have naked button holes, now could I?

I am entering this one for the Moxie Fab Digging on Doilies challenge too!  Wish me luck......if you've seen the entries, you know I'll need it!

Happy Birthday!

Hi there! I made this card for my MIL who is celebrating her birthday today.  My boys call her Nana, so I thought this was the perfect set to use for her card. I created using my friend Nina's new sets for Gina K. Designs called Nana's Needlework and Nana's Needlework Sentiments.  I have had these sets for a little while now as Nina had asked me a few weeks ago if I would be one of her Designing Friends for this release.  Of course I said yes, yes, a thousand times yes.  I love Nina's designs and she had given me a couple of hints that there was a doily and some needlework, the ideas started flowing.  For this card, I started with a base of PL Kraft cardstock and then layered with some PL Cream and print cardstock from the Websters Pages Home for the Holidays/Winters Wings Petite Paper Pack.  The doily was stamped three times, once with Memento Rich Cocoa ink, once with Versamagic Pink Petunia and once with Distress Bundled Sage.  I cut out the different sections and layered it up.  I then added some buttons, rhinestones and ribbon to finish it off.

I am going to enter this card in the Moxie Fab Diggin' on Doilies challenge.  Keep your fingers crossed!

Tip:  The ribbon I used was only 5/8" wide so I cut it down the middle and then adhered it back to the sentiment panel with Scor-tape.

Sweeeeeet Gift!

Isn't this the cutest card?  Last Friday I had the pleasure of having lunch with Pat Smethers, Natalie and Tosh.  The girls made the trek to the foothills to come to The Cat's Meow and visit with me.  When they arrived, Pat gave me this adorable, sweet card and tin.  She even used chocolate scented embossing powder!!!  Can you say yummy?  Aren't stampers the coolest?  The girls had a good time, and if you don't believe me, check out these fun pictures of us on Tosh's blog.  You will find them a little way down the page under Tosh's adorable tag.  I can't wait for our next visit!

Goodbye my Friend

Today I am sad.  This morning the father of  my dear friend Sharon passed away.  Dwight was such a sweet, wonderful man.  He loved life, his family, his pets and his church with all of his heart.  Dwight would have turned 95 on the 20th of this month.  His life was long and full of many joys.  I have so many fond memories of him that I will always cherish.  I know that when it is my time to go to heaven, he will be waiting there on his Rhino (4-wheeler) for me and the first thing we will do is go to Crabcakes for a yummy catfish lunch.  My fish will be fried, but not his, it will be broiled.

Pretty in Pink

Happy Saturday! The card I am sharing with you is one that I created for last Monday's color challenge over at StampTV . My friend Tina is the Color Challenge hostess for the next three months and for her first week she chose the colors pink and white (only). I was expecting purple as that is her favorite color, but nope she zigged down the pink/white road this week. I really, really tried to make this card in the CAS (clean and simple) style and although I added some ribbon and layering I am pretty proud of myself because I could have easily piled on a little more! My original idea was to emboss the white card as you see and then just layer the white image panel with the pretty pink flower from the Pressed Flowers set from GKD. I just couldn't stop there, I added the ribbon (w/o the bow).........still wasn't happy. Added the pink panel behind the image panel........was starting to feel a little better. Finally I added the little bow, pearls to the flower center and some Diamond glitter glue. Then I was happy.

Tomorrow, I hope to play in some of the other challenges over at StampTV.

Little Joys

Hello, today the card I am sharing was created using the pretty pastel cardstocks from the Gina K Designs Pure Luxury Spring cardstock assortment. I used Lovely Lavender (base card), Lemon Drop and Innocent Pink for the labels layers. The beautiful frame stamp is from the Lovely Labels set designed by my friend Nina for Gina K. I love her sets, they are "just my style." The flowers were colored with Copics and outlined with my yellow Spica glitter pen. It might be kind of hard to see, but the pattern on the labels stamp matches the embossed Cuttlebug folder perfectly!

Hugs,
