Bliss

Hello and happy Friday to each and every one of you.  Today I am sharing a door hanger that I made for my studio door.

I started with a blank Basswood door hanger from my not so local craft store and then slathered it with a nice coating of Tombow Mono Aqua Adhesive and then started adding pieces of paper from the Prima Songbird collection.  The nice thing about this adhesive is that it gives you a little of time to play and move things around if you want, it does not buckle the paper and it dries clear and quick.  Next I added the crochet trims using Tombow Mono Multi Adhesive.  I like this adhesive for things that are a little heavier like ribbons and trims and embellishments.  The flowers were cut from the MFT Prima Donna Petals Die-namics  Die set.  The flowers and the chipboard heart button were attached with Tombow Power Tabs.

The chipboard letters were white and glittery and I wanted them to coordinate with the rest of the papers and trimmings so I colored them with Tombow Dual Brush Pens.

Wishing you a happy, crafty weekend!

Daffodil

Hello!  Today I am sharing a fun Spring daffodil card.  In my part of California, the daffs have been mighty confused to say the least.  I have a bed of daffodils in the front yard and usually it is full and abundant by now, but not this year.  You see, they were all starting to come up and open and we had a crazy storm that dumped 12 inches of that cold white stuff and it sent my poor little flowers into a tizzy! I think they are finally coming around though.  :)

This week on the Outlawz Twisted Thursday challenge we are having an "Anything Goes" week.

I had seen a card using this layout some time ago and jotted it down on a piece of paper and tucked it into my "to do" file and when I saw this pretty image from Stampendous, I knew the two would come together and play nice with each other.  The design is pretty straight forward.  If you have any questions, just leave me a comment and I will get back to you.

We would love to have you play along.  Come on, it will be fun!
Check out the challenge HERE.

My Mind's Eye Trifecta

TGIF!
This week my fellow Tombow teamies and I have been sharing projects that we created using products from My Mind's Eye.

I received a wonderful selection of goodies from the Follow Your Heart-Be Amazing collection.
For my first card, I used some of the papers from the 6 x 6 pad to create
little hills and then stamped the bicycle and sentiment in Adirondack Espresso ink and added some stitching with Tombow Dual Brush Pen #879 (Brown) and sun rays with #991 (Light Ochre).  I also added a bit of #991 to the edges of the chipboard button in the center of the sun rays. I used Tombow Mono Dots Roller to adhere the paper layers and a Power Tab to attach the chipboard button for the sun.

For my next card, I used some of the paper from the 6 x 6 pad to create a backdrop for the Tilda die from Poppystamps.  I tied some My Mind's Eye twine around the card and to the center of the button.  Remember, no naked buttons..:) It just takes a second to finish them off with twine, floss or even a narrow ribbon.  Mono Dots Roller was used to adhere all paper layers and a Power Tab was used to attach the button.

My final card used some of the softer feminine elements from the Follow Your Heart-Be Amazing collection.  I added a little distressing to the edges of the print and solid panels and added a bit of Scattered Straw Distress ink to create a shabby chic look.  The image was stamped with Adirondack Espresso ink and shading was added with the Scattered Straw ink and a sponge dauber.  I used Tombow Mono Dots Roller to adhere all of the flat cardstock panels.  Tombow Mono Multi was used to adhere the ribbon to the card base.  Tombow Foam Tabs were used to pop up the image panel and finally a Power Tab was used to adhere the button and ribbon to the card.

Thank you My Mind's Eye for your generosity!

Good Luck Winning!

Woo Hoo, it's Friday!  I have been looking forward to this weekend as I am heading to the coast with some of my girlfriends for a fun stamping weekend by the sea.  Okay, we will probably do a little shopping, eating and laughing too!  Never a dull moment with this group!

This week the my Tombow teammates and I are sharing projects with the "Luck of the Irish" theme in honor of St. Paddy's Day tomorrow.  You also have the opportunity to win some yummy May Arts ribbon.  The details are below.

I created this card using stamps from the Our Craft Lounge Shamrock Blessings set.  One of my favorite ways to use Tombow Dual Brush Pens is to color directly on my stamps.  For this card I used the following colors:  098 Avocado, 177 Dark Jade, 665 Purple and 676 Royal Purple.  I started by coloring the lighter color of marker onto the stamp and then just tapping on a bit of the darker colors.  Give the stamp a little "huff" to re-moisten the ink and then stamp onto some cardstock.  I then stamped the sentiment right over the top of the image.

Would you like to WIN some amazing May Arts ribbon?

We are so excited that May Arts shared some wonderful ribbon with the Our Craft Lounge design team and we have some great projects from both of the companies on the OCL Blog today!

Whatever you can do...

Hi!
Today I am sharing my Outlawz Twisted Thursday challenge card with you.  This week we are creating cards and projects using "Anything with Wings"  You can check out the challenge and the rest of my teammates incredible creations HERE.

I used a couple of new products for this card and I love them both!  First, I used some print cardstock from the new Loyal collection from Authentique.  Love, love this collection.  Although this card leans to the feminine side, most of the prints would be great for the guys in our lives as well. The next new product I used is the Tim Holtz Kraft-Core Nostalgic Collection from Core'dinations and I LOVE it!  When you emboss this cardstock with an embossing folder and then sand it lightly, the kraft color shows through.  I used it on both the purple and green embossed pieces on this card.

Be sure to head over the the Outlawz Challenge Group and check out today's Twisted Thursday challenge.  We would love it if you would play along.  There are always prizes to win!

Thinking of You

Well, here I am again posting for the second time today.  Please scroll down to see my first post.

Today, I am thrilled to be hosting the Free for All Friday challenge at StampTV.  I chose to create a sketch (see below) and add a twist to use flowers somewhere on your creation.

I stamped this pretty flower image from the GKD Dogwood and Butterfly set that was illustrated by Theresa Momber with Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto some GKD PL White cardstock and colored it with Copic markers.  I stamped the image a second time and colored the only the blossoms and popped them up with some small Tombow Foam Tabs.  The image was die cut with an Nesties Petite Oval and while the image was still in the die, I added some shading with Summer Sky Memento ink.  The image was layered with alternating layers cut from the Petite Oval and Petite Scallop  Oval dies that were cut from GKD Kraft and some light pink cardstock from my stash.  I layered the image panel to my base card with some Tombow Foam Tabs.  For a finishing touch I added some natural twine and a pretty blue button.

Be sure to check out the challenge HERE.  If you play along, you could win an awesome prize from Gina K. Designs.

Need A Hug?

Happy Friday!  I can't believe how nice the weather has been this week, it really has me in the Spring mood.

This week the Tombow team has been sharing "Hug" themed cards/projects with you and today is my turn.

I chose this adorable image from the Our Craft Lounge Showers of Blossoms set.  I stamped the image with Adirondack Pitch Black ink and colored it in with Tombow Irojiten Colored Pencils and Gamsol.  These pencils blend beautifully and the colors are so vibrant.  I used Tombow Mono Dots Roller to adhere each of the layers together and Power Tabs on the two pink roses.  I wanted the aqua rose to sit a bit higher so I used a Foam Tab to give it a little extra lift.  I used Tombow Mono Multi to adhere the die cut leaves.

Thank You

Hello.  Whew, it feels good to get in the studio and do a bit of stamping.  I have been sitting out a bit and nursing a sore left shoulder/arm.  I am not 100% yet, but I was itching to get into the studio and get inky.

Today's card is for the Outlawz Twisted Thursday challenge today.
The challenge is to use:
Glitter, green, brads and ribbon.

I have to admit, this card was a comedy of errors while it was coming together.  I decided to do a clean and simple card because I didn't want to overwork the arm.    Maybe that was the first mistake. LOL  Anyone who knows me, knows that clean and simple cards usually take me as long as layered up foofy cards do.
I picked out the Mediera stamp from Amuse as it had been sitting on the shelf forever and it needed a little love.  I stamped the image across the front of a white panel with aqua and moss inks and was pretty happy.  Oops.....I had intended to emboss one of the images with some crystal embossing powder so to fix that boo boo, I stamped the image again and embossed it with the crystal powder (hard to see, but it is there) on a small panel, layered it up and placed it over one of the moss images.  I then proceeded to layer to an aqua panel and then the green card using foam tape between the aqua and green. I stamped the sentiment on the front and I am thinking it looks pretty good at this point.....but.....I forgot to add the brads!  I cut off the legs from the brads and added them to the card with some Glossy Accents.  So after a bit (a long bit) I am happy with the card and set it up to take pics.  Guess what?  No stinkin' ribbon on the card.....good golly, I really should have gotten up from the desk and walked away at that point but where would the fun be in that?  I tied a little knot of ribbon, added it to the top and called it done.

Thanks for hanging in there to read all about my saga.  I love you all!

tweet, tweet

I can't believe March is here already, before you know it the first quarter of 2012 will have come and gone.  March is a busy month for us as we have about a bazillion birthdays this month.  I will also be spending a few days in Morro Bay with some of my stamping buddies.  I am looking forward to the salt air and sand between my toes!

This week on the Tombow blog is ABC (anything but a card) week so I decided to cover this little wooden bird.  I bought this at my "not so local" big box store and wish I had purchased a couple of extras as it was a lot of fun to decorate.

I started by painting all of the edges of the bird with some white acrylic paint and then I slathered on some Tombow Mono Aqua adhesive and adhered my strips of Kaisercraft paper.  This adhesive dries quickly and doesn't bubble.  Ya gotta love that!  I trimmed the paper off as close as I could and then used a sanding block to get the paper trimmed right to the edges.  I did both sides this way.  Next, I went around the edges of the bird with Tea Dye Distress ink.  I added the piece of white lace where the two different papers met.  I used a little more of the Mono Aqua for this.  The seam didn't look finished so I decided add a row of buttons.

I laced the buttons together with some linen thread and then added Tombow Power Tabs to the back of each one.  I cut the Power Tabs into smaller pieces for the smaller buttons.         Power Tabs are very strong and the buttons were secured nicely.

I then started adding rhinestone embellishments, crinkle ribbon and flowers.

As you can see in the picture above, the flower was a bit brighter than what I needed for my project so I decided to distress it a bit with some Tombow Dual Brush Pens.  I used:  228 Gray Green, 312 Holly Green and 346 Sea Green.  I scribbled the markers onto a non stick craft sheet (a plastic art palette would also work well) and then spritz the scribbles with some home made pearlized water (Pearl-Perfect Pearls and water) and lightly blended the colors with my finger and then dipped the top of the flower randomly to add some color.  Set the flower aside to dry or you could use your heat gun, just be careful not to burn yourself or the flower.
