OWH Memorial Day Blog Hop

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

{click the banner above to be taken to the OWH Hop page}

This weekend Operation Write Home is celebrating all of our amazing men and women who are or have served in our military.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU TO OUR AMAZING TROOPS

I used sketch #184 to as the starting point for my card.

Starting with the sketch and some red/white/blue papers from my stash, I created this thank you card for our troops.  To keep the layers to a minimum (hard for me), I used thin strips of the navy cardstock on either side of the red print instead of adding an additional panel and again for the white strips on either side of the polka dot piece.  The navy panel across the bottom is mounted on Tombow Foam Tabs and for each of the other layers I used Tombow Xtreme Adhesive.  The star has Xtreme Adhesive on the bottom half and Foam Tabs on the top to even everything out.  The "many thanks" sentiment is one of my favorites and it is from the Paper Smooches Word Salad set.

Thanks for stopping by this weekend!  Be sure to pop by each of the blogs and leave a comment.  There will be some giveaways along the way and you wouldn't want to miss out!

Be sure to click here: Operation Write Home or on the OWH banner above to be taken to the master list of hoppers!

The tip about using the strips is a good one. Great way to make a solid paper last while still giving the look of layering.

I love your paper choices. The card turned out beautiful. I use thin strips also when I don't have enough for a full layer but want to use a certain color.

Cool paper, not typical for a patriotic card but you've really made it work by using the star and the dotted paper together. Thanks for posting on the OWH Hop.

It's nice to see a pretty red, white & blue card. I appreciate the hint about paper strips too - I don't layer to excess but sometimes hate to use up too much of some of my solids.

That lacy red and white paper behind bold polka dots and a star... so brilliant! With just the right touches in layers, inked edges, and bling... a beauty!

I often do the same thing to make it appear that it is a whole panel. Sure helps to save paper.
