Sweeeeeet Gift!

Isn't this the cutest card?  Last Friday I had the pleasure of having lunch with Pat Smethers, Natalie and Tosh.  The girls made the trek to the foothills to come to The Cat's Meow and visit with me.  When they arrived, Pat gave me this adorable, sweet card and tin.  She even used chocolate scented embossing powder!!!  Can you say yummy?  Aren't stampers the coolest?  The girls had a good time, and if you don't believe me, check out these fun pictures of us on Tosh's blog.  You will find them a little way down the page under Tosh's adorable tag.  I can't wait for our next visit!

Blessed

Hi there! I was going through some of my "blog ready" pictures and noticed that I hadn't posted this card yet. I created this card a few weeks ago using the Signs of Autumn and Thanks a Million sets from Gina K Designs. I liked this card so well that I ended up making enough of to use for a recent swap as well. I rarely make more than one of anything, so this was a true challenge for me! On this card I went over each of the wheat stalks with my Versamark Marker and then clear embossing powder. The deets for the card are below.

Although I make cards, I am kind of a schmuck when it comes to actually sending them to people, but I did send this one to Theresa as she had done something really nice and I wanted her to know how much what she had done was appreciated by so many of us who hang out on the StampTV forum. Stampers really are the most kind hearted folks! I can't begin to tell you about all of the "special" friends I have made through this little hobby of mine.

The weather here is gray and gloomy and as much as I like fall, I don't like gray and gloomy. YUK! I have some cards ready to take pics of, I just haven't had good sunshine to do it in. What do you all do to get good pics when there is no sunshine?

Enough rambling, here's the recipie for the card:

Stamps: Signs of Autumn, Thanks A Million-GKD Cardstock: Brown, Cream-GKD, Yellow Mini Gingham-Amuse Ink: Caramel (or maybe Butterscotch??) and Espresso Adirondack The extras: Ribbon-GKD, Weed (Outta the Yard), Versamark Marker, Clear EP, EK Success Medium Corner Rounder

happy stamping,

Pinks and Greens

Here is the picture that I said I would upload of all of the wonderful stuff I received from my friend Debbie. We agreed to swap 5 x 7 books that were created using 3 different papers from 3 different companies. Debbie covered an address book with yummy pink papers and put Bazzill green cardstock on the inside. She also sent scallop circles, little flowers, gobs o' ribbon and a ribbon pack from Making Memories. But best of all was some little crocheted flowers that Debbie's grandma made. Debbie suggested using them with some giant brads in the middle. I think I just hang on to them for awhile. Last, but not least in the bag was PINK M & M's. No, they didn't arrive open (like in the picture) I just couldn't wait to eat a few. Yum!

Tomorrow, I will start uploading the cards from the Shoebox swap. We will be Shoeboxing again after the first of the year. The theme will be "Love, Hearts, or Valentines." Are you thinking that far ahead? If so, let me know what your looking at. I'm thinkin' I want to use the Boho Blossoms set from Kim at MFT.

Today I taught my calendar class at the store and will teach it again on the 15th. I will upload pics after the 15th.

Received some cards

Whew! The last couple of weeks have been hectic and busy. Dad suffered a setback and ended up back in the hospital last Friday. He had some major surgery yesterday and will be in the hospital for a few more days.

During this last week or so, I received two cards that I would like to share with you. This cute little "Hang in There" monkey card is from Doreen. She also included a clever prescription that was for: a shower, good sleep, a good meal (which I finally had tonight) and to do some of my favorite things. My favorite things are: spending time with my family (doing that tonight), stamping (hope to do that tonight) and traveling (hope to take a weekend trip at the end of the month.)

The next card is from Ginger. It also came with a nice note. It is hard to tell, but the cardstock used is very shimmery.

Thanks you guys, you really made my day.!

Great Mail! Thanks Debbie!

Wow, I received really great mail on Friday. Not 1 but 4 awesome cards from Debbie Fisher. Debbie and I met in an online stamping group 5+ years ago. We had lost contact and I found her wonderful blog, Snickerdoodle Dreams, a few weeks ago and we have reconnected and I can't tell you how lucky I am. I can't really say I have a favorite as I love them all. The first one has an Inky Antics image and a cuttled (is that a word?) background. The next card has butterflies (I believe from an SU set) and a coppery cuttled background. The butterflies are colored in with Twinkling H20's. The third card is just.............SWEET! I love the color combo first of all and the way the twill is wrapped around the clip is a keeper. I believe all images are from Stampin Up (help me out Debbie, if I am wrong) The last and certainly not the least is another super cool card with a color combo that I will try for sure. I love the brown/lavender,minty green colors. I also like that it is not the standard A2 size. Heck, I think it is great to change it up a bit and keep us on our toes! We are going to do another swap soon where we each have to pick a fun pair of socks (we like the shortie kind), make a matching card and buy a $5-ish gift for cardmaking (this will be fun as I work at the greatest stamp/scrap store in the Central Valley) and put it in a decorated bag and send. I can't wait to shop for the "perfect" pair of socks. Hmmmm..........I wonder what is on Debbie's wish list?
Well, I am off to finish up some name badges for an upcoming stamp retreat that I am attending April 20-22. I will try to upload the badges in the next day or two.
