Thank You

Hello.  Whew, it feels good to get in the studio and do a bit of stamping.  I have been sitting out a bit and nursing a sore left shoulder/arm.  I am not 100% yet, but I was itching to get into the studio and get inky.

Today's card is for the Outlawz Twisted Thursday challenge today.
The challenge is to use:
Glitter, green, brads and ribbon.

I have to admit, this card was a comedy of errors while it was coming together.  I decided to do a clean and simple card because I didn't want to overwork the arm.    Maybe that was the first mistake. LOL  Anyone who knows me, knows that clean and simple cards usually take me as long as layered up foofy cards do.
I picked out the Mediera stamp from Amuse as it had been sitting on the shelf forever and it needed a little love.  I stamped the image across the front of a white panel with aqua and moss inks and was pretty happy.  Oops.....I had intended to emboss one of the images with some crystal embossing powder so to fix that boo boo, I stamped the image again and embossed it with the crystal powder (hard to see, but it is there) on a small panel, layered it up and placed it over one of the moss images.  I then proceeded to layer to an aqua panel and then the green card using foam tape between the aqua and green. I stamped the sentiment on the front and I am thinking it looks pretty good at this point.....but.....I forgot to add the brads!  I cut off the legs from the brads and added them to the card with some Glossy Accents.  So after a bit (a long bit) I am happy with the card and set it up to take pics.  Guess what?  No stinkin' ribbon on the card.....good golly, I really should have gotten up from the desk and walked away at that point but where would the fun be in that?  I tied a little knot of ribbon, added it to the top and called it done.

Thanks for hanging in there to read all about my saga.  I love you all!

Hello

Hello and Happy Valentines Day to you all. Today will be pretty low key for us. I will be heading to town to do some grocery shopping and pop in and check on my Mom. We have plans for a yummy Mexican dinner a little later in the week. I can't wait! Mexican food is my favorite with Chinese or Italian following pretty closely behind.

The card I am sharing with you today is for the weekly challenge over on the Cat's Meow Forum. A few weeks ago I started this forum for my local stamp store. It is a great little place to hang out. Each week on Wednesday I have been posting a challenge. My challenge last Wednesday was to use the colors red, orange and pink (and a neutral of your choice) together. Anyone is welcome to join and play along in the challenges. We would love to have you!

This card was inspired by a CAS (clean and simple) card I had seen on the web some time ago. I love the look of CAS but have trouble not adding extra layers and goodies to my cards. All of the stamps are from Amuse. It is a little hard to see, but I stamped the outline flower with Adirondack Red Pepper ink onto the bright pink panel and then ran it through my beloved Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder. I stamped the solid flower twice with Adirondack Sunset Orange ink and once with Adirondack Bikini Pink ink and then overstamped with the outline flower in Red Pepper ink. The little piece of orange print paper is from My Mind's Eye Oh La La Her collection. I finished off the card with some orange rhinestones for a little blingy bling! All of the cardstock used was from my scrap pile. You gotta love that!

Just a Note Times Two

Hi there! Today I have a couple of
fun sets of notecards that I recently made. The set on the right was my class project last Saturday. The box base is Prismatic Frosted Yellow cardstock. I used Prismatic Frosted Teal and a bit of Basic Grey print paper for the accents. All of the stamps used (except for "hello") are from the brand new Hero Arts release. The "hello" stamp is from Amuse. The notecards are a base of Prismatic Frosted Teal with a layer of Neenah CC Solar White. This set was embellished with butterflies and/or rhinestones and ribbon. You can find all of these goodies here.
The set shown on the left was created for the Anything But a Card challenge on StampTV a couple of weeks ago. All stamps used were from the Bold Flowers set. The "Just a Note" was computer generated using Whackadoo Font. The label was cute out using my nestabilities labels set. The box base is Prismatic Island Mist Light. I used PL Green Apple and some October Afternoon Farm Fresh for the accents. This set is embellished with ribbon, brads and some Diamond Stickles. Each week a name is drawn from all of that weeks participants and the winner gets to pick a free stamp set. Guess what, I was picked! I chose the new Purrr-fectly Delightful set as my prize. I can't wait to stamp with it.

You can find a tutorial for the box here or a pdf file here.

Have a happy day!

Blessed

Hi there! I was going through some of my "blog ready" pictures and noticed that I hadn't posted this card yet. I created this card a few weeks ago using the Signs of Autumn and Thanks a Million sets from Gina K Designs. I liked this card so well that I ended up making enough of to use for a recent swap as well. I rarely make more than one of anything, so this was a true challenge for me! On this card I went over each of the wheat stalks with my Versamark Marker and then clear embossing powder. The deets for the card are below.

Although I make cards, I am kind of a schmuck when it comes to actually sending them to people, but I did send this one to Theresa as she had done something really nice and I wanted her to know how much what she had done was appreciated by so many of us who hang out on the StampTV forum. Stampers really are the most kind hearted folks! I can't begin to tell you about all of the "special" friends I have made through this little hobby of mine.

The weather here is gray and gloomy and as much as I like fall, I don't like gray and gloomy. YUK! I have some cards ready to take pics of, I just haven't had good sunshine to do it in. What do you all do to get good pics when there is no sunshine?

Enough rambling, here's the recipie for the card:

Stamps: Signs of Autumn, Thanks A Million-GKD Cardstock: Brown, Cream-GKD, Yellow Mini Gingham-Amuse Ink: Caramel (or maybe Butterscotch??) and Espresso Adirondack The extras: Ribbon-GKD, Weed (Outta the Yard), Versamark Marker, Clear EP, EK Success Medium Corner Rounder

happy stamping,

Oh Happy Day

Can I just say, we are having a beautiful day here in Central CA! Our day is much like the image on this card. The birds are singing and there is a gentle breeze. I love it!

I created this card for this weeks TSG20 Partially Popped challenge over on the TSG blog. I popped up some of the leaves, clouds and the birds. What fun! The tree was colored with YG01, YG03 and YG05 Copic markers. The grass, birds and clouds are all pieced and popped from My Mind's Eye cardstock. The tree trunk is pieced with wood grain cardstock from Amuse. I created the background by putting the four itty bitty music notes on one block and stamping repeatedly. The inside has a little paper pieced bird and the sentiment "Just droppin' you a line..." For a bit of sparkle, I colored the leaves, birds and clouds with Spica Glitter pens in Green, Orange and Pink

Recipe:

Stamps: Happy Day Set-There She Goes Clear Stamps Cardstock: Cream from Stash, All prints- My Mind's Eye Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black Extras: Ribbon, Copics, Spica Glitter Pens

I am off to the post office and have some copies made for this weekend.

Have a great day!

Hello Birdy

Good Wednesday Morning! It is supposed to be a bit cooler today (high 90's-low 100's) and I am so glad! I am one of those crazy people who likes hot weather, but today will be the 10th day over 100! Over on SCS the Dare to get Dirty challenges started this morning and Krystie's challenge for everyone was to use something clear on her card. It could have been clear cardstock/acetate, clear embellies or anything else that would be considered clear. For my card, I cut a piece of acetate 4 1/4 x 6 and scored it on the left side at 1/2". (this will become the card front). For the back of the card, I cut the blue gingham check cardstock to 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2 and folded to create the inside and back of the card. I sandwiched the 1/2 portion of the clear card front between the open edge of the gingham card. After you make the sandwich, you should have a clear card front, gingham inside panel and the back of the card is also gingham. (you won't see any adhesive this way) I then stamped and colored the birds with Copics. I needed to extend the wire that the birds are on, so I went over the lines with my Black Spica pen. I know, my instructions are about as clear as mud, I will work on a tutorial today if I get the time. For the front panel of the card, I cut and stamped a piece of yellow gingham cardstock and then wrapped/tied the ribbon around it. I attached this to the outside front of the clear card. On the inside front of the clear card, I attached a solid yellow panel to cover the adhesive from the yellow gingham panel. Now, I am off to work on Jen's tag challenge.

Hugs,

Sweet Peas for Thee

I've been playing with acetate again and really having fun. I think I forget how versatile it really is. For this card I stamped the Lockhart Sweet Peas (my new favorite stamp--for this week) in Pitch Black Adirondack ink on Neenah Solor White cs and colored with Copic markers (BG10,RV02,V04,Vo9, YG11, YG63) and Melon Spica Glitter pen. The base card is Wisteria Bazzill cardstock and the pink check layer is Petite Gingham Check cs from Amuse. I ran the acetate through the Cuttlebug with the Divine Swirls embossing folder. The ribbon is from Amuse and the brads are from Bazzill. Want this stamp and cardstock? You can get them here. Thanks for looking!

Friendship

Friendship:  /ˈfrɛndʃɪp/ [frend-ship] –noun 1. the state of being a friend; association as friends: to value a person's friendship. 2. a friendly relation or intimacy. 3. friendly feeling or disposition. Friendship is one of the most wonderful gifts we can ever be given. Friendships come naturally with your family members, some friendships become what they are because we share common interests with people, many people make friends as children and form friendships that last a lifetime. I will be sending this card to one of my childhood friends who is having a tough time right now.

This card was created for the Mojo Monday 76 challenge. The base cardstock is a very light aqua blue shimmer. De-lish! The print paper is from the SEI Brigeport collection. The sentiment stamp is from Stampendous and the butterfly is from Northwoods. The ribbon is from Amuse and the bling is from my stash. If you see something you like/need, you can get it here.

Happy Monday,

Mojo Monday #60

So I am a few weeks behind in sharing my Mojo Monday #60 project, but that seems to be what my life is about these days...............always running a bit behind. I have the day off today and my list of things to do is long, but I hope to check a few off of the list by the days end.
Now for the deets on this card. First, let me say that I a love, love, love snowflakes! I have really been into the brown/aqua colors alot lately also. For this card, I used brown Madeira cardstock from Amuse for the base and half circle at the top of the card. The next layer is aqua cardstock with Bo Bunny's Winter Whisper Frost print paper cut slightly smaller ( I love a teeny tiny solid edge around the print layer). The ribbon is Ivory Satin from May Arts.
For the snowflake image, I cut the Cuttlebug Snowflake die out of a piece of Thermo Web double sided adhesive. First, I attached the adhesive to white cardstock and then cut the snowflake out with the "bug". Next, I peeled back the top sheet to reveal the sticky and poured on some Twig Art Institute glitter. I then layered that over the ribbon on my card and used a glue pen to color inside of the open snowflake and poured Crystal Art Institute glitter inside. I cut the half cirlcles with my Spellbinders dies and layered to the card with foam tape. I finished off the card with some little half pearls from my stash.
I am off to have a little breakfast..........have a great day!
