CHA Sneak Peek....Feeling Lucky?

Ah ha, I bet you thought I was going to have a St. Paddy's card to share with you.  Nope!  What I am sharing is a couple of different ways to win some goodies.

First, I am giving away the Kind Words set from Verve........you can read all about it and enter to win on THIS post.  You have until Tuesday January 25th to enter.

Second is this:

Ranger and Coredinations have teamed up to create two great cardstock collections that coordinate with Tim Holtz Distress Ink and Ranger's Adirondack Ink lines.  They are going to pick 40 winners to send one of these fabulous paper pads to.  If you would like to enter, click HERE.
I'll be back in a bit with a card to share.

A card, confession and confections!

ETA:  I just let the random generator pick the lucky winner and it is:

Amanda R said...

Just found your blog (you can thank Dorcas and her photo of your crocheted flowers) but I am lovin your cards too! My favorite color lately is red. Such a bright happy color!

Thanks Amanda!  I will be contacting you for your snail mail addy.  Thanks again to everyone who commented.  This was fun and I will do it again soon.

The Card:
I created this card for the VLV Week 3 Sketch Challenge.  Let me say, I love this sketch that my pal Tosh created, my mind was spinning with ideas.  I will use this sketch again and again.  I was also inspired by the colors of the sketch.  They are some of my favorites together.
I used stamps from Verve's Framed Wishes and Blue Skies sets.

The Confession:

I have lots and lots of Verve stamps that have been sorely neglected and decided that I would put them to good use in 2011.  While rummaging through them all, looking for inspiration I found out that I have two Kind Words sets and one of them had never seen ink! I guess I really liked it!

This brings me to the Confections:

I am going to give my extra set of Kind Words and an assortment of goodies from my stash to one of my amazing blog readers.  All I ask of you is to leave me a comment on this blog post and let me know what your favorite color is.  I will create your goodie pack based on your favorite color.  I will randomly pick a winner on Tuesday, January 25, 2011.  If your blog/e-mail is not linked to your comment, please leave me some way of contacting you.

Pretty Little Poinsettias

Today, I am sharing a card I made for the Color Spotlight Challenge on StampTV.  Gina challenged us to use the following colors:

I immediately knew what I wanted to do for my card.  I didn't have the poinsettia stamp yet (but I knew it was on the way) as I had won it from the amazing illustrator, Melanie Muenchinger a few days before.  To make all of the elements come together I created this card in a 5" x 7" size.  The top and bottom of the card were embossed with a Cuttlebug folder and then I used my Scor-It to add the embossed line just below and just above the sentiment from Festive Frame set. The wreath was embossed on PL White cardstock and layered to panels of PL Red Hot and PL Turquoise Sea cardstocks.  I stamped, colored and layered the poinsettias from Melanie's A Year of Borders set to the wreath, added lots of pretty turquoise rhinestones and a bow and called it good.

There is still time to play along with the challenge and have a chance at winning a stamp set from Gina K. Designs.  Click here for more info.

Have a great day,

To Everything there is a Season

Happy Wednesday to you all!  The card I am sharing with you today is one that I created for the StampTV Sketch Challenge from Monday.  You can check it out here.  Every week you can have a chance to win free stamps..........who doesn't love free stamps?

For my card I used a wonderful set created by Nina Brackett for GKD. The set is called Lord of the Season and has a variety of topiarys and scriptures in it.  I colored the image with Copics.

Although there are several layers, this card went together pretty quickly (if you call two hours quick) for me.

The recipe is:

Stamps:  Lord of the Season-GKD
Paper:  PL White and Wine with Everything-GKD, Pumpkin Bazzill, Print from Basic Grey's Indian Summer collection.
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Extras:  Copics, Spellbinders Petite Oval and Petite Scallop Oval dies, Glossy Accents, Rhinestones, Spica Glitter pens.

Helllllooooooooo!

ETA:  I know that I am late, but I have picked the winner of the goodies..............and the winner is Selma!  Congratulations Selma, be watching your mailbox.

Hi there!  I am sorry about being MIA for the last few weeks, but I have been one busy gal.  I ended up with a little inflammation in my right eye (after the cataract surgery) and really didn't feel like working on anything that needed to be looked at up close.  I am happy to say the eye is all better now.  I have been busy helping Sharon prepare for The Great Yosemite Stamp Escape that is coming up this weekend.  If you live nearby or can be in Central CA this weekend we have 5 spaces left and would love to have you join us.  Hmmm, Tosh that would be you!

So you might have noticed, I had my pal Sara make a few changes to my blog and I love them.  Soon, I will have a separate place for you to find tutorials and items for sale.  Stay tuned.

Well, if you're still here I some fun cards to share with you.  These cards were for a recent class that I taught.   In this class I wanted to show people how to use just a few colors/cardstocks to create some different looks.  On one of the cards I used a Prismacolor pencil blending technique that I have not seen anywhere else and I am working on a  tutorial to share with you before long.

For each of the cards I used a combination of the following cardstocks:  White (Neenah), Dark Pink (WWP),  Green Gingham  (Amuse) and Green and Heart print (Basic Grey).  The stamps and extras will be listed below each card.  The images were either stamped with Tuxedo Black or Rich Cocoa Memento ink.

Stamps:  cupcake and sentiment from Lockhart Stamp Company
Extras:  button, nesties, ribbon, copics, glitter, glossy accents, red spica pen, EK scalloped scallop punch
Stamp: Thanks from Hero Arts
Extras:  crochet ribbon, butterfly punchies, glitter glue, cuttlebug
The background on the white panel was created with my Scor-It board.

 Stamp:  Hedgie from Penny Black
Extras:  cuttlebug, copics, rhinestones, ribbon, MS corner and edger punches, nesties, prismacolor pencils, versamark pen, clear embossing powder.

Well, if you've stayed long enough to get to the end this post and you leave me a comment, I will put your name in a drawing for some goodies. You will have until 8:00pm PST on Thursday April 29 to leave your comment.  I will pick a winner by 8:00 am Friday April 30.

Home from CHA

Boy am I tired! I always look forward to CHA every year and this year was no different. There is so much to see and do in such a little amount of time. I took alot of pictures and will do my best to get them sorted, edited and uploaded a little later today. We even had to evacuate the convention center at one point on Monday. Lucky for us, we were close to the door at the time.

I will post the winner of my Confections a little later today. I will be combining the comments from my Nearing 10,000 and Confections, oh sweet Confections posts and put everyone's name in a jar and have Jon pick one when he gets home from school today. I will also be sending a little something to the person who sent the most people my way. I truly appreciate all of the comments I received.

Happy 2009!

Happy

New

Year!

I would like to wish everyone a happy and prosperous new year! I would like to thank everyone who has stayed with me this year. Before I know it I will be nearing 10.000 hits and I will be offering up some Confections!

I won't make any resolutions this year (as I never follow through), but I am going to try real hard to: 1) Send all of my peeps a birthday card this year. 2) complete every Mojo Monday sketch (even if they are late) and 3) water my house plants (all two of them)........ha.......ha..........that last one is pretty knee slappin' funny! I know someone else who is going to try that one too, I wouldn't hold either one of us to it though. Oh and I hope to blog at least once a week. One down and 51 to go!

I am really looking forward to attending CHA this year. Robin and I will leave on Friday 23rd and Sharon and Al will come down Sunday morning. Robin is taking a few classes on Saturday and I will be attending the Copic Certification. I don't have any Sunday classes, but I think Robin does. I am also excited about taking Jerri's Watercolor class on Tuesday morning. That gal can use a Tombow marker like nothing I have ever seen. You can check out her AWESOME blog A Touch of Grace here.

I spent a little time today practicing with my Copic markers. I stamped an Impression Obsession floral image several times and colored each one with a different color combo and I will be making cards out of them this week. Stay tuned for the pics.

One more week.........

until The Great Yosemite Stamp Escape. From the looks of this picture, you would think we aren't ready yet, but we are. Sharon has been ordering and ordering to make sure we have everything we/you will need. In the biggest boxes to the right of the picture are the goody bags. Most of the boxes on the top of the table are things to put in the goody bags, door prizes or make and takes. The boxes below the table are full of product to sell Saturday night during shopping time. Our teachers this year are: Michael Strong (Michael Strong Stamps), Gail Ellison (ArtLenz), Karen Lockhart (Lockhart Stamp Company) and Lynell Harlow (Dreamweaver Stencils). WOW! is all I can say about this line up of teachers. The best part about the retreat (okay, its all good) is you don't have to choose which classes to take, you get to take them all! We tried that pickin' and choosin' thing one year..........no fun! The fun will start with a private party Friday night May 2nd at the store and will continue throughout the weekend at The Pines Resort. There are a few spots left, and we would love to have you join us.

Sausage Anyone......or maybe some Confections

See all of those sausage boxes? One of our teachers either loves sausage or has an "in" with her butcher so she can have his boxes. :) Can you guess which one? Leave me a comment (make sure I know how to reach you) and I will put all of the correct guesses in for some Confections. What will you win? How about a complete class kit for my Bling class? (you can check out my previous posts for what you will get). I will draw the winner Monday night April 28th.

TTFN!

New Blog Banner & 2500 hits!

Well, what do you think? We may tweak it a bit, but for the most part this is it. I just love the colors and flowers. All of the hard word was done by Sara Williams and I can't thank her enough. Sara worked hard to make sure that I had just the look I wanted. Sara also designed the amazing banner/headers on Amy Westerman's blog, Heartfelt Greetings. I am so happy that I have had 2500 hits. I will be posting a pic of the blog confections that you will have a chance to win in a couple of hours. Stay tuned! {hugs to all} Melissa

Almost 1000

I just noticed that I have almost 1000 hits on my blog. Woo Hoo! When I started the blog, I wasn't sure what to expect. I didn't know if people would be interested in the musings of a CA girl or not but I wanted to a place to share all of the things that I love so much. So I have decided to give a little blog give-a-way when I hit 1000. Leave me a comment with name suggestions for my blog yummies and you could be the lucky winner. I will use a random number generator to pick the winner. Tell all of your friends too! I will gather some goodies and post a picture later. Remember, I work at the best stamp store around and have access to lots of yummy stuff. TTFN!
