Decorative M Plaque

Whew, I am sure glad that the end of the week is here.  Tonight my dear hubby is taking me out to eat and I am looking forward to that for sure.

This week on the Tombow blog the gals have been sharing projects created using one of Tombow's Correction Tapes.  I chose to use the Mono Correction Tape-Pen Style, Fine Line for my project.  I have to say I was beyond stumped when I started.  You see, this week is also an ABC week on the Tombow blog so that meant I had to create "anything but a card", I am such a card girl and had originally thought I would try to use the correction tape to create a resist background for a card but had to adjust the wind in my sails and this is what I came up with.

I started by lightly sanding this pre-finished letter so that the adhesive would have a nice base to adhere to.  I added a layer of Tombow Mono Aqua and then covered it with some 12 x 12 print paper from Kaisercraft and let it sit overnight to make sure that it was stuck down really well.  I used the Tombow Correction Tape to create the line and faux stitching around the edges of the plaque.  The correction tape is bright white, so I sponged on some Adirondack Aqua ink to tone it down a bit.  I created the main flower in the floral spray using the Blossom Three Spellbinders die and then added some foliage using punches and dies.  The smaller tulle flowers are from Prima.

Wishing you a beautiful weekend.

tweet, tweet

I can't believe March is here already, before you know it the first quarter of 2012 will have come and gone.  March is a busy month for us as we have about a bazillion birthdays this month.  I will also be spending a few days in Morro Bay with some of my stamping buddies.  I am looking forward to the salt air and sand between my toes!

This week on the Tombow blog is ABC (anything but a card) week so I decided to cover this little wooden bird.  I bought this at my "not so local" big box store and wish I had purchased a couple of extras as it was a lot of fun to decorate.

I started by painting all of the edges of the bird with some white acrylic paint and then I slathered on some Tombow Mono Aqua adhesive and adhered my strips of Kaisercraft paper.  This adhesive dries quickly and doesn't bubble.  Ya gotta love that!  I trimmed the paper off as close as I could and then used a sanding block to get the paper trimmed right to the edges.  I did both sides this way.  Next, I went around the edges of the bird with Tea Dye Distress ink.  I added the piece of white lace where the two different papers met.  I used a little more of the Mono Aqua for this.  The seam didn't look finished so I decided add a row of buttons.

I laced the buttons together with some linen thread and then added Tombow Power Tabs to the back of each one.  I cut the Power Tabs into smaller pieces for the smaller buttons.         Power Tabs are very strong and the buttons were secured nicely.

I then started adding rhinestone embellishments, crinkle ribbon and flowers.

As you can see in the picture above, the flower was a bit brighter than what I needed for my project so I decided to distress it a bit with some Tombow Dual Brush Pens.  I used:  228 Gray Green, 312 Holly Green and 346 Sea Green.  I scribbled the markers onto a non stick craft sheet (a plastic art palette would also work well) and then spritz the scribbles with some home made pearlized water (Pearl-Perfect Pearls and water) and lightly blended the colors with my finger and then dipped the top of the flower randomly to add some color.  Set the flower aside to dry or you could use your heat gun, just be careful not to burn yourself or the flower.

Thank You

Good Monday morning!
Today, I am sharing a card that I created for the Viva la Verve Sept Week 3 sketch challenge.  The sketch was created by my pal Tosha Leyendekker and  I think  it is just fab!

I had recently picked up several of the new My Mind's Eye's 6  x 6 pads from my favorite store, The Cat's Meow.   After looking at them all over and over, I finally just closed my eyes and picked one.  All of the print papers used were from the Paris & Co. pad.  I really like how soft and pretty the colors are.  The decorative element and sentiment were from the Verve Thankful Accents set.  The adorable butterfly is Verve's Flutterby die.

Well, it's off to work  for me.  See  you soon!

CHA Kaisercraft

Hi there! Whew, I am sure glad to be home from CHA. The trip was fun, but always lots of work too! Over the next few days I will show you some pics that I took at the show. Today I am sharing a few from the Kaisercraft booth. Robin and I were lucky enough to have two spots in their make and take. We made cute little notebooks like the ones above. I really liked the collections pictured above, they were some of my favorites. I didn't get a pic of the collection that the little bird journal was made from. I think my head was spinning from all of the excitement at being at CHA.

Tomorrow, I will share an extra special picture that I took of a display board created by a dear friend of mine for Inky Antics.

Reindeer Rex

Isn't this little puppy cute? He is from Poppystamps (a little division of Memory Box). I colored him to look similar to my little dog Wags (see photo to the right). Wags has a couple of very light tan spots, but is mostly white. Some say he is a Parson Russell Terrier, but we are not sure as he was a rescue dog. It doesn't matter what he is, we LOVE him!

I stamped a snowflake from Kaisercraft's Merry Christmas clear set in Versamagic White ink on a PL Kraft card, I then layered this fun red dot cardstock to an ivory panel that was punched with the EK Scallop Scallop Edger punch. I also punched one side of an aqua dot panel and layered with red dot and the image panel. Both of the dot cardstocks are from the Poppystamps Snow and Cedar 6 x 6 paper pack. Rex was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and spotted with my E31 Copic marker, the edges of the spots were softened with my Copic Colorless Blender. I paper pieced his scarf and then I cut the aqua dot snowflake out with my Cuttlebug die and inked it and the wooden snowflake from Kaisercraft with my Glue pad and covered them with Vintage Glass Glitter and combined the two with an aqua pearl brad from American Crafts. I purchased my Poppystamps and Kaisercraft goodies here.

A little book

Here is a little book that I made using one of Kaisercraft's little board books. These books come in a pack of 3. You can fit 12 books on a little bookshelf that is also made by Kaisercraft. I covered the book with paper from My Mind's Eye's Bloom and Grow collection and embellished with a few buttons from my stash. Easy Peasy!

Mojo Monday 75

Well here it is! Better late than never. Remember, I said I was going to do them all this year. I actually had this one done the day Julee posted it, but never took the time to photograph it. I really need to get a lightbox set up so that I don't have to wait for sunny days to take pics. For this card I used the Spirograph cs from Kaisercraft. The flower is from Verve's Thankful Blossoms set. I stamped it 3 times on different pieces of the Spirograph paper and then cut and layered to the square panel. The solid cs is from Bazzill. I tied skinny twine though the button, but first I colored the twine with a Copic marker to make it match the cardstock. Finished it off with some light green Dew Drops from my stash.

Mojo 74--What Lies Before Us

I just love the inspiration I get from the Mojo sketches. For this card I used some of the new Bo Bunny Abbey Road print cardstock and two colors of Bazzill Dotted Swiss cs. (brown and blue). The sentiment and butterfly are both from Penny Black (one of my all time fav companies), oh you probably already knew that though. The lace trim was natural color and I needed it to be brown, so out came my Copic marker. Voila! Brown trim. I also colored the butterfly with two colors of blue Copic markers for the wings and Lt Brown for the body. I finished the card off with some Bling and a Pearl (butterflies head) from Kaisercraft. Just a bit of Stardust pen here and there for a final touch. Oh, it's American Idol time. See you all tomorrow! hugs to all,
