GRS Color Challenge and Chef's Choice Giveaway

It's color challenge time on the Gourmet Rubber Stamps blog and today I am sharing two cards using the fun color scheme below.  I went with a coral instead of the pink...looks like the rebel in me is coming out!  :)

Be sure to scroll all the way down, because we are giving away one of the April Appetizer sets away to one lucky person!

For this card I used the new Say It Big Appetizer set to create this quick and easy card. Mask off the area in the center and then swipe different colors of ink across to create an ombre effect.  Remove mask and stamp sentiment in black ink.  Add a few dew drops and your done.  Easy peasy!

For this one I masked off lots of different sizes of circles and sponge ink to create the fun dotted background.  Next, I stamped the KJ Butterfly in aqua ink randomly. I stamped the butterfly again in coral colored ink onto a scrap of white cardstock and added the sentiment from the Everyday Sentiments set in aqua ink and layered with some coordinating scraps.  The sentiment panel is popped up on foam tabs.

Here is the inspiration photo, see I told you I changed it up a bit!

Be sure to visit the rest of my teamies blogs as they have some amazing cards to share with you!

Happy Easter

Happy Monday Y'all!

Today, I am sharing a card for the OCL111 challenge this week.  This week is a Photo Inspiration week and we have this adorable bunny picture to work with.  I couldn't help but use the cute bunny/sentiment from the OCL Hey Chick set.  I have been trying to create more CAS (clean and simple) cards lately and this layout was inspired by a card I had seen while surfing the net.  I love that I was able to use some scraps  that I had from a previous project.

Play along with us this week and be entered to WIN a $20 gift certificate from  Our Craft LoungeYou have until 11:59pm Thursday, April 4th to enter.   Participate as many times as you like!   A random winner will be selected and posted  on the OCL blog at the beginning of next month. Here are the rules: use any stamps that you wish – get BONUS POINTS when you use OCL stamps!  Link to your card/project  HERE   using the link tool provided – **be sure to link DIRECTLY to your challenge card – not a general blog or gallery link & add the appropriate photo.  Use the challenge as your basis – do whatever inspires you, but please base it on the challenge. If you upload to SCS, please use the Keyword OCL111.  We can’t wait to see what you CREATE!

Sweet on You

Hi there, today I have joined up with the rest of the OutlawzTwisted Thursday team to bring you Valentine cards.

I went a little "die" crazy on this one as I used the new heart dies from Lifestyle Crafts and the TClassic/Scallop Rectangle Nesties.  The design was inpired from the FTL172 layout.  The sentiment is from the new MFT Pure Innocence Berry Sweet set

Be sure to pop over to the Outlawz Twisted Thursday challenge and check out what the rest of the team has created.  We would love to have you play along as well.  You could win some nice prizes too!

CAS Let it Snow

Good morning!  I hope this finds you off to a good start for the week. The season may be fall, but we have had some unusually cold weather last week with snow at the 8000 ft level.  Lucky for me I am only at 3200 ft elevation and we only had the cold and not the snow.  I am so not ready for the white stuff.  I do like              stamping snowflakes though and have tons of them in my stash.

I am working on my CAS skills.  I actually completed this card in less than 30 minutes.....a new CAS record for me. :)  I started with some Gina K. Designs kraft cardstock (this is the best kraft cs on the market IMHO) and embossed it with the Snowflakes CB EF at the top and very bottom of the card, leaving a little ditch for my sentiment.  The sentiment is from Verve's Holiday Phrases set and the snowflake is from Penny Black.  The date on the side of the snowflake is 2001 and I bet that I have had it since then.....it has been well loved!  The stamping and distressing were done with the new seasonal Gathered Twigs Distress ink.  The red print is from the Memory Box Distressed Dot collection.  We all love our bling so I finished my card off with a few red gems.  Who doesn't love a little sparkle?

Todays card is for two challenges:  The Outlawz Sunday CAS1009 challenge which was to use your favorite stamp(s) and the CR84FN40 challenge which is to use: red, brown and kraft.  Isn't their graphic beautiful?

  • Your design must be CAS - Clean And Simple: lots of white or open space with one main focal point
  • One image
  • One sentiment
  • One layer card - your card base plus only one more layer
  • Embellishments - you can use any number of embellishments you want, but they all must be the same color

Without further ado, here is my card.  I used stamps from the Gina K. Designs Spirit of Christmas set. I used some red metallic dots for the ornaments and a bit of red ribbon too!

See you soon,

White Space CAS

Hi there, I hope this finds you having a great day.  The weather here in Central CA is perfect today.  I wish we had this kind of weather year round.  So my pal Tosh shared several cards last week where she used mostly white.  Although leaving white space is hard for me, I was inspired to give it a go.  I stamped the Hero Arts Delphinium stamp with Versamark ink on a piece of Penny Black Foil Script paper and embossed it with clear EP.  The flowers were colored in with the following Ranger Distress Inks:  Shabby Shutters, Bundled Sage, Peeled Paint, Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Chipped Sapphire.  I layered the image panel to a piece of medium blue cardstock and then to a piece of gold glossy cardstock.  To finish it off, I tied a little gold cording around it.  Easy peasy!  Jennifer McGuire has a great tutorial for this technique, you can see it here.
