Thanks ever so much!
Happy Memorial Day everyone!
Just a quick post today, I hope you all are spending this holiday with your loved ones and remembering those who have served or are serving in our military. We can't thank them enough for all they do for us!
While cleaning off my desk this morning, I came across lots of scraps from earlier this month when I created THIS card for the Challenge Chicks May challenge.
Challenge yourself today, to create a card with just scraps you have laying around. If you do, come back and leave me a comment with a link. I would love to check it out.
Sending much love and thanks to all of our military branches today. You are true HEROS!

OWH Memorial Day Blog Hop
Hi there and happy Saturday everyone!
Today I am sharing a card that I created for the Operation Write Home Memorial Day Blog Hop.
The theme is to create a Thank You card using one of the many, many sketches from OWH. You can find all of the sketches HERE.
I picked Sketch 133 to work with and stuck pretty much to it, I changed the horizontal panel to a flag instead of the rectangle, but that was about it.
Isn't this little cup cute? I used a new (to me) product called Wink of Stella by Zig to add a little sparkle to the steam. I love this because it gave the card a little zip without the worry of glitter rubbing off. Just perfect I say!
There are lots of blogs to see along the way, so I am just going to share the card recipe below. If you have any questions, be sure to leave me a comment (with a way to get back to you). Happy hopping!
Recipe:
Stamps: Cyber Cafe-Paper Smooches
Paper: Neenah Solor White, Melon from ??, Floral-October Afternoon, Dot from ??
Ink: Tuxedo Black-Memento
Extras: Tombow Dual Brush Pens (N75 & 991), Buttons, Twine
Adhesives: Tombow Mono Adhesive Dots, Tombow Foam Tabs

Little Corn Flower
Fall is finally here! Whew, we have had some comfortably cool mornings and a little rain is expected to come as well. I am not a big fan of the rain (especially if I have to drive in it) but we really need it, so I say "bring it on"! We have had such a hot, dry summer and I can't wait for things to start turning green again.
Today I have a card that uses the cute Bug and Roo Little Corn Flower digi image from By LORi Designs. I often forget that when I am using a digi image that I can still paper piece. I taped down some print cardstocks onto a piece of printer paper and then hit the print button. This worked perfectly for printing on the patterned cardstocks. I colored the image with colored pencils and paper pieced the dress and boots. Who wouldn't want polka dot moccasins like those?

OWH Blog Hop
Happy Saturday and happy World Card Making Day! Today I will actually be at home and hope to find some challenges on the net to play along with.
Today's share is a simple (for me) card that I created for Operation Write Home Blog Hop that is happening today. We were to pick one of the OWH Sketches so I picked lucky #77 to work with. You can click on the banner to be taken to a loooong list of people who are playing along. Be sure to stop by and check them out, there will be a ton of inspiration for you.
By the way, somewhere I totally missed that this was supposed to be winter/holiday themed. Oops! I hope you will enjoy my "miss you" card just the same. :)
I used two awesome sets from Paper Smooches for this card. I have to tell you, I think the PS whimsical style is adorable and it just sings to my heart. I used Chubby Chums and Sentiment Sampler. The words "miss you" come from the Sentiment Sampler set and the bird is from the Chubby Chums set. I colored her with some Tombow Dual Brush Pens and the Tombow Blender pen. The print cardstocks are from the October Afternoon Farm Fresh collection, an older collection but still one of my favorites. For Operation Write Home you can't send cards with glitter, so I added some red Sakura Stardust pen to the bottom of Chickie's feet for a little sparkle without the worry of glitter. After all, after she reaches her destination at one of our oh so amazing military bases, she will then be sent home to someone's special chickie and I thought it only fitting that she was outfitted in her best Christian Louboutin shoes, you know the shoes famous for their red soles :) Besides her little feet look like hearts so red was only fitting.
I won't keep you, but be sure to click on the Operation Write Home banner above and check out what the other hoppers have to share.
have a blessed day,

Challenge Calendar
Hi there! The hustle and bustle of Christmas may be over, but things sure aren't slowing down much around here. Last Wednesday was the first time I enjoyed a day of working in my studio. I am busy, busy preparing projects for January.
To help me keep on track, I decided to decorate a calendar that I had picked up in the office supplies department at Wallyworld.
I started by covering the spine of the calendar with some distressed dot print paper from Memory Box. I used Tombow's Permanent Stamp Runner to attach all of the cardstocks to the cover of the calendar. The main background print is from October Afternoon (I think). The chipboard letters for the word "calendar" were just plain white and I used a Tombow Dual Brush pen in Orange to color the letters to match perfectly. Love that! Did you know that you can use the Dual Brush pens to color match many items to coordinate with whatever project you are working on? Too cool!
I didn't do too much to the inside of the calendar as I need lots of space to keep track of my projects and upcoming classes, but I did add some of the Tombow Permanent Stamp Runner to the back of some rick rack trim and used it to cover the space where the two prints matched on the inside cover.
I used two coordinating Dual Brush Pens to add the month name and some doodles to the bottom of the page. Don't mind the teeth marks on the lid of the orange pen, a few years ago my dog thought it might be a fun chew toy.

Twinchie Quilt
Good morning! Today I am sharing a card that I made for a swap over on SCS. I rarely participate in swaps, but this one was to use Anna Wight/Whipper Snapper stamps and the Joy Fold technique. I have had this adorable Homespun Quilt set for a little while now and knew it would be perfect for this swap. I stamped two of the images (two times each) onto a cream Twinchie square with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The outer blocks are colored with Copics (green and pink) and the inner pieces were paper pieced with adorable prints from the October Afternoon Farm Fresh collection. Half of the sentiment is stamped on the outside of the card and the rest is on the inside. The card base is PL Lipstick Red from Gina K. Designs. The panels are more of the yummy OA Farm Fresh collection. (I love, love this cardstock). To finish off the card, I added some teeny tiny rhinestones to two of the quilt squares and some ribbon from my stash. Thanks for looking!
