Miss Daisy

Hello, today I am sharing the card I created for the Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge.  This week we were to create a card with "Lots of Layers".  Well, I did a happy dance when I found out we were going to use my favorite style.  

I have used Prismacolor pencils many times over the last 20 years but I had never stamped an image on kraft cardstock and then colored it.  I was inspired by one of my color pencil heros, Dorcas from Dorcas Designs. This gal is a master with colored pencils and she often colors on kraft cardstock and I love how it looks and decided to give it a try with this sweet little mousie image from the Inky Antics Teacup Mousies #2 Clear Set.  I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then I gave the image a base layer of white Prisma and then started adding colors.  I am really happy with how it turned out for my first try.

Pretty Little Ella

 Good Morning!  I have created a card using the BLD Challenge #22. 

Isn't this image the sweetest? Her name is Ella, and I think she is adorable. Some friends of ours have a sweet daughter named Ella and I think about her every time I see this image. 

The colors for the challenge are pink, orange and lime green.  I chose to use papers from the Basic Grey Green at Heart collection as it has all of these pretty colors together in one nice package.  Ella was colored with Prismacolor pencils and a tiny bit of odorless mineral spirits.  I added some Spica Glitter pens to her hair and the dots on the dress.  If you click on the small pic, you can see how pretty the shimmer is.

CSS Sketch Challenge

Hi there!  Tonight I am joining in with some of the gals from the Gina K. Designs Center Stage Team to bring you our first challenge for 2012.  Tonight we are using a sketch that I created as our inspiration. 

You should have arrived at my blog from Linda Payne's amazing blog, if not you can go back to StampTV and start from the beginning.  

Being a California girl I knew I wanted to use the GKD Stately Flowers 1 set that was illustrated by Melanie Muenchinger.  Can I tell you how much I LOVE this California Poppy image?  I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto GKD PL White cardstock and colored it with Prismacolor Pencils.  I added a wee bit of Diamond Stickles to the flowers to give them that sunkissed look.  The image panel was layered to GKD PL Black and GKD PL Apple Green panels and added to the card base with Tombow Foam Tabs.  "California Poppy" was stamped in Memento Black ink as well and popped up with a foam tab onto a GKD PL Black Scalloped circle.  The card base is GKD PL Green Apple cardstock with a layer of GKD PL Black and an orange print (from my stash).  I finished the card with some ribbon, a bow and rhinestones.

Twisted Thursday Snowman

It's Twisted Thursday time on the Outlawz Challenge Group and this week the DT was given the challenge to make a card/project with a snowman and the twist is to add glitter.  The challenge was an easy one for me as I love both snowmen and glitter.  

I stamped the snowman from the Our Craft Lounge Tweet Winter Wishes set in black ink onto some white cardstock and colored it with a combination of Tombow Dual Brush pens and Prismacolor pencils.  I added some Stardust Stickles to the ground for that pretty snowy glisten.  On the gloves, hat, scarves and ear muffs I also added some OCL Breezy Blue Sparkly Fluff.  If you could see this in person you would see that the sparkly fluff looks like a pretty yarn with metallic threads running through it.  I would love to have a hat and scarf like that :)

It's a California Poppy kinda day!

Good morning!  Today I am sharing a card I created for a class I taught a few weeks ago.  Being a California girl, I loves me some poppies!  I started by stamping this beautiful poppy image from the Stampendous Poppy Bottles set in Memento Black ink on white cardstock and then stamped it again a second time, colored it with Copic markers and a bit of Prismacolor pencil.  I popped the colored image up onto the uncolored image with some Tombow Foam Tabs to give it some dimension.  That gorgeous print paper is from Creative Imaginations, I really like how bright and cheery it is. 

Well, I better get busy as I have a boatload of stuff going on this week.

Happy Monday!

I have a fun little card  to share with you today.  I created this card for last Friday's StampTV Color Spotlight challenge.  I love these colors, they were a blast to work with.  The ribbon had a touch of lime green, so I threw that in for good measure.

This weeks colors are:

I used 3 of my favorite Gina K. Designs sets on my card.  On the Turquoise layer, I stamped the solid flower image from Pressed Flowers in Adirondack Aqua ink and then over stamped it with the coordinating open image flower from A Year of Flowers in Memento Rich Cocoa ink. I colored the center of the flowers with Prismacolor pencils to give them a little pop! I love how Melanie illustrates so many of her sets to work perfectly together.  I stamped the solid flower again on a white Nestabilities Labels 2 panel and added the sentiment from the Friends set.  I finished off the card with some Cinnamon Stickles, ribbon and pearls.

Happy Sunday!  I hope everyone is enjoying their long holiday weekend. I always love it when I get to spend some extra time with my sweetie. 

Speaking of sweeties, today I am sharing another adorable Betsy Bluebell image from Penny Black.  I colored this Betsy with Prismacolor pencils.  This was one of three cards from a recent class I taught.  Each of the cards was colored with a different medium.  You can see Copic Betsy here.  In a few days, I will share Watercolor Betsy with you.  The overall design of the card was pretty simple, I added a bit of glossy accents to the center of Betsy's flowers.  I lucked out and found that adorable yellow button with the flower center to accent my card with.  The button is tied with a little twine. Ya know I love finished button holes.  My mantra is:  No nekkid buttons!

Sweeeeets!!!!

Hi there! Today I have this sweet little card to share with you. This is also my 250th blog post! I know that is not alot to some of you, but for me it is! I have been at this blogging thing for 3 years now and I hope to keep it up for while longer. I know I don't post daily, but I thank each and everyone of you who read and keep up with what is going on in my crazy little world. ((HUGS)) to you all!

This is a card from my recent Valentine class. I just love this little mouse in the candy box from the Piece of my Heart set from Penny Black. I pulled out my colored pencils for this one. I forgot how fun it was to color with them. The print papers are from the Basic Grey Bittersweet collection (one of my all time fav collections). To ruffle the ribbon, I just pulled on one side of the stitching and eased the gathers. Tip: Don't pull too hard on the stitching or it will come out the other end of the ribbon. Ask me how I know...............:)

Happy Sunday!

I woke up to a gentle summer rain today and although I am not a fan of rain, we need it as we are at the peak of fire season here. I would much rather have the rain than a big ol' forest fire anyday.

On with the card.......this card is 4 x 6 in size, I just thought I would change it up a bit. I love this little butterfly/flower image from Verve's Enjoy set so much. I stamped it and colored it in with my Prismacolor pencils and then I decided to emboss it with clear powder. I love the way it came out. I added the word Enjoy from the same set. The leafy parts on the flower are from from the same set. The little round blossom is from the Budding Blossoms set. It is hard to tell, but the card base and layers are lt aqua from Prismatics, they almost look white in the pic.

This card is all packaged up and ready to be mailed along with a little gifty for a friend of mine that I haven't see for awhile now.

Inching to Stamp

Inchie Sminchies!!!

So, it's been awhile since I last posted. I have been hecka busy around here. I have been stamping, just not taking the time to post. I think its the picture taking/editing that slows me down the most! Below are pictures of some inchies that I created for the Rustic Inchie challenge/contest over at Inchie Inklings. The basic jist of the challenge was to use a Lockhart image and create something that looked rustic/fallish.....is fallish a word? You can submit up to 3 inchies and you have a chance at winning some great goodies. I ended up submitting two from this grouping. All of the cards are 2 1/2" square and the base cards are Bazzill cardstock. The stamp I used is the Lockhart Wheelbarrow of Pumpkins. I just cropped a bit from the corner. All of the inchies were colored with my Prismacolor pencils and Copic Marker for the light blue background.

For this inchie I punched the corners of a piece of Bo Bunny Double Dot cardstock with the Iron Eagle punch. I then layered with a square of SEI striped paper from the Dill Blossom collection. I pierced around the edges of the punched panel for a little more texture. What you can't see in this pic is the little frame that is around the edge of the inchie panel. I took a little strip of paper 1/16" wide and wrapped it around the edges of the inchie to create the frame. This is a little trick I learned from Karen when she wias here last May. Man how time flies!For this little guy I cut a couple of strips of the SEI cardstock and added some brown Dew Drops as embellishments. What you can't see here is that I sprayed Gold Memories Mist over the card/inchie and it is so pretty and shimmery! For this one, I used a bigger square of the striped paper and a smaller square of the Double Dot cardstock. The ribbons are from Amuse. Just for your info...........I love this ribbon! Okay, so I love all ribbon, but that's supposed to be a secret!

Here is the last one. Mr. Pumpkin is layered on a brown panel and then the striped panel. I hand wrote "Happy Fall" in the corner and embellished with a button and some hemp cording. The edges were distressed with my Tim Holtz distressing tool and then a little Adirondack Ginger ink was rubbed around the edges. Create Joy

Creat Joy...............that says it all! This was the final sketch and card for the big Anni-Verve-sary that was back in August. This card came together very quickly for me, I had the image left over from a class I taught awhile back and it was already cut to the right size for the sketch. I started with a green card (Bazzill) and then layered a piece of light and dark pink Bazzill Bling cardstocks. I embossed the darker pink with the Divine Swirls Cuttlebug folder. I colored the Penny Black image with Prismacolor pencils and then added the "create joy" words from Hero Arts to a small circle that was cut with my scalloped nesties from the same green cardstock as the base card. The image was kicked up a notch with some Diamond Stickles glitter glue. The card was finished off with several sizes of green rhinestones that were also from Hero Arts.

I hope you have enjoyed the 12 Anni-Verve-sary cards as much as I enjoyed making them.

Pickin' Punkins

Continuing on with my Anni-Verve-sary cards, here is number 11. Imagine that, you might get to see number 12 before another month passes by!

For this card, I used Bazzill Brown cs for the base card and the itty bitty layers around the print cs. The print cs are from My Mind's Eye. I stamped the Pumpkin Wagon image (Lockhart Stamp Company) in Ginger Adirondack ink on Shimmer White cardstock and colored it in with my Prismacolor markers. The ribbon is brown twill from PTI and the card was finished off with three brown Dew Drops. I really like how the pencils colored on the shimmer cardstock. It is as though the shimmer just comes right through the color.

Pretty in Pink

Nine, nine.......finally number nine of the 12 Anni-Verve-sary sketches. I decided to go with a monochromatic color scheme for this card. The image was stamped in Ginger Adirondack ink and colored in with Prismacolor pencils. I added a little Diamond stickles to the flower for some extra pizazz. The base panel is a light pink Bazzill cs. The medium pink panel was run through the Cuttlebug with the script folder and then layered to a darker pink panel with just a teeny layer showing. I love using a very teeny layer as I think it allows the main layer to pop. KWIM?

On top of the script panel is a dark pink panel layered to a pale pink panel (with another teeny layer). On top of that is a small pale pink panel that was Cuttlebugged with the script folder as well. The beautiful pink ribbon is from Amuse (we have all of the colors in stock at the store).

The floral panel is attached to the card with foam tape to add a little height. The rhinestone brads were from my stash and I thought they were the perfect finish for this card. I gave this card to my dear friend Anne who loves pink, flowers and glitter so it was just perfect for her.

Mr. Owl's Heart

Here is card #7 from the Anni-Verve-sary (August 7). This turned out to be one of my favorites also. The green base layer for this card is from Bazzill, the purple layer is some paper that I had in my stash from ???. The white dots on the purple are embossed. I wish I could remember where I got this paper from. The print paper is from the first Karen Neuberger paper collection that was released from Paper Adventures. The verse is from Verve, the branch from Impress and Mr. Owl is from Hero Arts.

It is kinda hard to see, but Mr. Owl was paper pieced and I managed to get a heart from the paper for his chest. Too cute! For the verse panel, I cut the panel and scalloped panel with my nesties. The scallops on the purple panel were also cut with my nesties. I just layed the paper on the die so that only one edge would cut. The ribbons are from Amuse and they are so yummy too!

The branch stamp is a solid image and I took a hint from Julie Ebersole (JulieHRR) about outlining solid images with a fine black pen (Pigma Micron .005) to give it more definition. I used Prisma pencils and Copic markers to color, shade and define the branch and leaves.

Inchie Sminchie

Aren't these inchies the cutest? This little card is 3 x 3 in size. The best thing about this one is that everything used (except the inchie) was from my scrap stash. I just love that! I made this card for our first Inchie swap at the store. For this month the only requirement was to put your inchie on a card of some sort.

For the inchie I stamped the Inchie Frame from Lockhart Stamp Co. and the flower is from Hero Arts onto a white inchie square. I colored the flower with Prismacolor pencils. The stamped panel was framed with paper from Collage Press, Bazzill, WorldWin and Treehouse Memories. The image was stamped in Black Onyx Versafine ink.

We are still looking for a good name for our inchie club, if you have any ideas I would love to hear them.
